Speakers are available to educate the public about issues like consumer frauds, senior scams, internet safety, civil and labor rights.Please report suspected neglect or abuse of nursing home residents to the NYS Department of Health Nursing Home Complaint hotline 888-201-4563 and to the Attorney General's Office at 800-771-7755. Suspected abuse can also be reported online through a form.

  • Will listen to residents' concerns, comments, and opinions.

  • Will work to resolve conflicts between residents and the long term care facility and help to develop collaborative solutions and resolve resident related concerns with the long term care facility.

  • Adult Day Services - Provides nutritious meals, social programing, supervision, personal care services, community outings, assistance with activities of daily living and door to door transportation (Oneida and parts of Herkimer counties only).
  • In-Home Companion Care - Offers companionship and assistance with everyday activities.
  • Caregiver Services - Provides community education, information, and referral for caregivers of the disabled or elderly.
  • Ombudsman Services - Provides information and advice to Nursing Facility residents who have issues with their services.
  • Open Doors Transition Program - Informs Nursing Home residents of community based living options and explains transition process.

Staff and trained volunteers of the Ombudsman receive, investigate and resolve concerns of, or on behalf of the residents of long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen from Catholic Charities visit the facilities regularly to monitor the quality of care, assist residents in understanding and exercising their rights, assure care with dignity and respect, and encourage residents to express their opinions.
