CONTINUING DAY TREATMENT | CONTINUING DAY TREATMENT

Provides a long-term comprehensive and structured day program to mentally ill persons age 18 and older, who have a primary psychiatric diagnosis, are functioning or developmentally disabled, and/or have a drug or alcohol problem in addition to their mental illness, mentally ill chemical abusers (MICA). Provides a separate senior day program for older persons who are displaying behavioral and psychiatric difficulties. An individualized, therapeutic treatment plan is designed for each patient by the treating Psychiatrist and Inter-disciplinary Team. Patients attend from two to five days per week for 5 hours per day based on individual need. Length of stay varies from 3 months to one year. Screening interview is required. Available treatment include: Symptom Management, Medication Therapy and Education, Group Therapy, Rehabilitation Readiness Development, Activities Therapies, Health Screening and Referral. Also includes Case Management, Transportation, Crisis Services, Family Support and Education, Discharge Planning and Follow-Up Care.

CHILD AND PARENT PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES CLINIC | JOAN AND ARNOLD SALTZMAN COMMUNITY SERVICES CENTER

Offers a Child Intervention Program; Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Program and Parent Intervention and Consultation Program. The Child Intervention Program provides individual psychotherapy sessions and conjoint parent-child sessions offering behavior therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy and play therapy. The program offers treatments for aggressive behaviors; defiance/oppositional behaviors; impulsivity; mood swings; obsessive/compulsive behaviors; panic, phobia and general anxiety; sadness; school and test anxiety; separation difficulties; shyness and inhibitions; and worries and fears. The Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a specialized positive and intensive program for children ages 2 to 7 and their parents, designed to enrich the quality of their relationship, reduce parenting stress and improve overall child behavior. PCIT Is appropriate for families with child relationship problems and highly stressed parents who have children with adjustment problems, aggressive behaviors, attention difficulties, oppositional and defiance problems, separation anxiety and social difficulties. Treatment techniques include behavioral parent consultation, behavior therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, mindfulness and acceptance commitment therapies, parent training programs and video-based parent training programs. The Parent Intervention and Consultation offers individual and/or group psychotherapy sessions to help parents overcome their own emotional challenges; improve the parent-child relationship; learn child management techniques; reduce the impact of stress associated with parenting and teach parent to help their child develop better emotion and behavior management strategies. Treatment techniques include behavioral parent consultation, behavior therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, mindfulness and acceptance commitment therapies, parent training programs for child management and video-based parent training programs. Coordinates enhanced mental health services for children and youth who are at risk of or have been diagnosed with a serious emotional disturbance (SED) and their families in Suffolk County. The CSPOA offers a centralized, coordinated referral process using a universal referral form and represents a consensus among community-based and residential programs to ensure appropriate service delivery to the highest needs youth. PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM | PARTIAL HOSPITALIZATION PROGRAM

Offers a short term program that provides an intensive structured treatment environment five days a week/five hours a day for adult mentally ill and mentally-ill chemically addicted invidicuals who are experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms. It can serve as an alternative to an Inpatient Psychiatric Unit stay, or as a step-down program to decrease the length of an Inpatient Unit admission. A multidisciplinary team consisting of a Psychiatrist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Alcoholism Counselor and an Art Therapist provide treatment to assist the individual with regaining stability of their symptoms. Treatment services include assessment, psychiatric evaluation, health screening and referral, group and individual therapy, medication management, education and administration, activity therapy, family support and education, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and case management.

We embrace the empathic gifts that come naturally to the horses to assist struggling humans.
