Offers services to children and their families suffering from traumatic experiences and post-traumatic stress disorder. Cognitive-behavior therapy and exposure therapy are the preferred modes of treatment for PTSD. All services are provided in a professional and ethical manner and conform to the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association. Provides acute, intense, short-term, inpatient psychiatric treatment to adolescents ages 12-17. Aims to achieve rapid stabilization to make possible ongoing treatment in a less restrictive setting. A variety of behavioral and emotional problems are treated including: anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders and other disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders including major depression, bipolar disorders and psychotic disorders. Offers veterans and their families residing in Nassau or Suffolk County a six-week workshop focusing on issues military families commonly encounter. Provides participants with strategies to deal with the stress of deployment, combat and re-transition home along with information on the root causes of stress and substance abuse. Aims to enhance family empathy, clarify family boundaries, roles and responsibilities, foster communication and resiliency.

Provides skill-based, group intervention that is aimed at relieving symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression and general anxiety among children exposed to trauma.

An outpatient clinic for adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, family conflicts, emotional or psychiatric illness. The program is offered by Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioner. Specific treatment services include the following: Biopsychosocial Assessment and treatment planning Psychiatric evaluation Community consulation and education Verbal Therapy-individual, groups, couples, and family Psychopharmacotherapy Medication Management Crisis Management Health screening and referral Rehabilitation readiness Case Management.

Provides three residential treatment facilities exclusively for veterans struggling with chemical dependency, post-traumatic stress disorder and other life challenges. They are located in Manhattan, Richmond Hill, Queens, and Ellenville NY. The Ellenville facility is dedicated to female veterans and offers gender-specific treatment at a safe and encouraging environment for women veterans. Also operates the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) which provides community-based housing assistance and support services for at-risk veterans and their families. These services include temporary financial assistance, housing counseling, legal service referrals, daily living services, personal financial planning and transportation services.

Offers veterans, including those with PTSD, support meetings, networking opportunities, creativity and job preparation workshops and social activity experience to promote a healthy transition back to civilian life. A particular focus is placed upon helping veterans showcase their talent and share their experiences through the arts, art shows, photography, music, dance and theatrical events.

Facilitates and coordinates leading medical research facilities which will be funded to work together to promote ways to help veterans and their families creates communities for the traumatically injured returning veterans in a supportive environment so they can buy their own affordable, well-built homes designed and built by veterans, especially for disabled veterans and their families provides vocational training as well as provides veterans assistance in helping establish their own business in order to help them re-integrate into society unifies veterans service organizations in order to effectively perform their missions in support of the National Disabled Veterans Business Council. This is accomplished by utilizing the print and broadcast media through the creation of television shows, films, documentaries, acquiring scripts, music and producing a concert series to entertain and make known to the public the issues related to returning from war.

Offers specialized addiction for first responder professionals such as law enforcement, firefighters, military, Veterans, EMT's and Correctional officers. Treats not only the addiction but also the underlying issues that are often associated to such high-demand professions, namely stress, anxiety, depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Affiliated with the Stony Brook Clinical Psychology Ph.D. the KPC is an outpatient mental health facility that has been serving the community since 1972. As a nonprofit training clinic for clinical psychologists, we provide psychological services based on the latest clinical and research advances. The psychological services provided at the KPC are based on cognitive-behavioral treatment models, which address the “here and now” and the problem thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be associated with your distress. Our therapy is active and involves a collaborative effort and commitment between you and your therapist as you work towards measurable goals. CBT-based interventions are available for a wide range of problems, as typically found in outpatient clinics. Problems addressed include issues related to anxiety difficulties, adjustment problems, depression, grief, trauma, anger control problems, issues related to parenting, conduct issues with children, relationship and couple problems, sexual difficulties, occupational difficulties, academic problems including learning difficulties and ADHD, as well as issues related to personality. In addition, at the KPC we have state-of-the art specialty clinics designed to address specific kinds of problems: Anxiety Disorders; Depressive Disorders; Couple and Marital Relationships and Children and Teens. All clients will first undergo a careful assessment. We offer one-on-one treatment, couple and family therapy, as well as several group therapy programs. Treatment is typically once weekly, although more intensive schedules are also possible when warranted. The length of treatment varies depending on the severity and types of clinical problems. The average duration of treatment is approximately 12 to 16 sessions. We operate on a Wait List system. After a brief phone screening process, which takes approximately 15 minutes, you are entered onto our Wait List, which allows us time to match your needs with the best appropriate therapist from our team. We do not contract with insurance providers; however, our fees are based on a sliding scale according to income and are considerably lower than those of practitioners in the community. The Krasner Psychological Center is open and available to service our community during the COVID-19 crisis and quarantine. We are currently providing psychological services (psychotherapy and assessments) via a hybrid approach, namely telehealth and/or in-person contingent on therapist's availability. Offers 24/7 hotline for veterans, Active Duty Service personnel and their families and friends who are in emotional crisis. The trained call specialist has the capability of connecting the veteran to his or her local VA Suicide Prevention Coordinator for priority follow-up.
