Provide long-term assistance to disaster victims in Clinton, Essex and Franklin Counties. A Long-Term Recovery Group has been established to help meet the unmet needs of disaster victims. The purpose of the LTRG (Long Term Recovery Group) is to coordinate long term disaster recovery through mobilization of resources and case management.

Provides funding to farms and small businesses who are hardest hit by natural disasters. Funding is for building rehabilitation, repair and replace permanent fixtures and equipment, as well as for inventory and working capital.

Offers financial support in the form of grants, no-interest loans, booth fee waivers, discounts and/or donations of craft supplies and equipment to artists who have experienced a disaster or emergency situation.

Affordable Home Ownership Development Program (“AHODP” or “Program”) funding available to non-profit partners which will assist homeowners in the impacted communities. The Program seeks to offer emergency home repair assistance to impacted homeowners for whom FEMA Individual Assistance or other disaster recovery assistance is unavailable.

Provides the structure to organize mobile operations during an emergency for telecommunications, life support, power generation, operational support, on-site management of disaster/all-hazard activities.

Provide emergency repair grants for critical home repairs to homeowners who suffered damage to their primary residence during July 9th 2023 flooding event. Eligible work may include repair or replacement of electrical and plumbing systems, heating systems and appliances, flooring, drywall, insulation, windows, doors, siding, and roofing but call for details.

Emergency assistance for eligible homeowners and municipalities in seven counties impacted by a series of severe weather events. From July 10th to the 16th, 22 in 2024, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and flooding which affected multiple Upstate communities.

Offers financial assistance, in the form of grants, for eligible customers (businesses, municipalities, large residential establishments, agri-businesses) who were impacted by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee.

Offers and trains a primary point of contact especially in the low-income areas for terrorism, crime, disasters and emergencies for citizens in their community, to be ready for any type of disaster, to become involved and be with the knowledge and resources necessary to be prepared for disasters, whether they are natural or man-made.

FEMA may offer Temporary Housing Units such as travel trailers or manufactured housing units. These units are property of FEMA. Occupants may be eligible to stay in these FEMA-provided units for up to 18 months from the date of the disaster declaration while securing a permanent housing plan.

Provides financial assistance, casework & recovery planning which includes health, mental health & spiritual care services, for fires and other disasters; provides disaster relief for larger scale disasters such shelter, distribution of supplies and reunification.

Creates local temporary help centers to victims of natural disasters (floods, fires, etc), to fill out applications for financial assistance that is needed to rebuild, renovate or replace damaged or lost materials during the time following a disaster.

Offers face-to-face meeting with IRS representatives who need help with tax forms, understanding financial tax laws, or materials needed to fill out forms correctly.

Provides up to $50,000 for qualifying emergency repairs to eligible homeowners impacted by the tornadoes and flooding that occurred across New York State in July 2024. Grants will be awarded based on a scope of work approved by local administrators according to program guidelines. Homeowners in affected regions (see Eligibility below) can apply to receive funding to cover the cost of urgent repairs necessary to bring their home into a safe and habitable condition.

Offers specialized crisis counseling and support for anyone struggling with emotional distress related to Hurricane Sandy. Offers 24/7/365 toll-free, confidential and multi-lingual hotline and SMS counseling, support, and referrals to local community-based resources for Sandy survivors, first responders, and anyone who may be experiencing ongoing distress, anxiety, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts/feeling and other mental health concerns.

Provides disaster assistance in the form of low interest long term loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations that suffer or incur damages during a declared disaster. Disaster recovery loans are to enable the applicant to repair/rebuild to pre-disaster conditions and cover operating expenses for a short period.

Oversees volunteer program and youth community service projects in Broome County, coordination of Blood Services volunteers and community presentations on preparedness. Volunteer opportunities range from helping at blood drives to office assistance. Also opportunities to work in disaster relief, youth services, health/safety education. Teen volunteer opportunities range from helping at blood drives to grocery shopping for homebound elderly to office assistance. Also opportunities to work in disaster relief, youth services, health/safety education.Age Requirement: 16+ yrs. Offers an appliance grant program for state residents who sustained property damage due to Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The program will help cover the cost of replacing vital household appliances, such as refrigerators, boilers, hot water/heater tanks, washing machines, dryers, dehumidifiers, and furnaces damaged by flooding. Purchase of appliances and equipment must be for replacement purposes only and were not covered by insurance or FEMA.
