Provides one of the most vital units throughout the Sheriff’s office. Throughout the year, Community Relations Unit visits each Suffolk County School District as well as multiple clubs and various organizations. Its main goal is to bridge the gap between Law Enforcement and the members of the Community. CRU is responsible for implementing community outreach and school-based programs, organizing events, and promoting the Sheriff’s mission. The unit offers an array of Community and School-based programs free of charge for all Suffolk County schools, businesses, organizations, non-profits and agencies. Provides a relapse prevention program to maximize the success of individuals who complete a drug or alcohol treatment program. The program focuses on relapse triggers and healthy coping skills for managing the new challenges in sobriety.

Offers seminars of education and awareness to the general public, professionals, and community groups on various mental health topics, such as bullying, alcohol/drug addiction, like skills training, adolescent issues, and more.

Provides access to quality drug treatment programs by providing education, support, guidance and treatment placement. Offers a 24/7 confidential helpline and a directory of NA meetings across the us.

Provides support and services to individuals and families affected by substance abuse. These include adolescent day programs, residential services (18+), medical services, vocational educational services and support groups. Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS).

The CHAMP Helpline is a free and confidential resource for New York State providers and consumers seeking assistance with accessing substance use disorder and/or mental healthcare insurance benefits. Helpline representatives assist callers with a range of issues regarding access to substance use disorder and mental healthcare issues, including helping ensure fair reimbursement of mental healthcare and substance use disorder services and fighting insurance denials of care.

Provides care coordination, specialty and primary health care, HIV/AIDS specialty care, LGBTQ+ specialty care, STI/HCV testing, syringe exchange, buprenorphine program, and harm reduction program. Also provides linkage to mental health services, substance use counseling, housing assistance, nutrition assistance, and transportation assistance.

Offers a variety of support groups for those with active alcohol and substance use, those in recovery, and family and friends affected by a loved one's alcohol or substance use. HARM REDUCTION - A peer-led support group for individuals who are looking for harm reduction services. Mondays 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM. RECOVERY NOW - A peer-led support group for early risers that also provides assistance with drug court. Tuesdays from 8:15am-9:15am. LIVING WELL - A seven week life-skills group facilitated by local volunteers from Lockport CARES. Wednesdays from 9:30am-11:30am. SERENITY CIRCLE - A peer-led discussion group facilitated by two recovery coaches. Wednesdays from 12noon-1pm. EPIC Parenting Class - A 10-week, evidence-based parenting class run by EPIC employees. A court-approved certification is awarded at the completion of the 10 classes. Must pre-register to attend. Wednesdays from 12:30pm-1:30pm. HEALING TOGETHER - A support group for families and loved ones of people in recovery or currently using substances. Thursdays from 5:30pm-6:30pm. AA - OPEN mutual support groups led by members of the community. Wednesdays from 6-7pm and Thursdays from 7pm-8pm. NA - OPEN mutual support groups led by members of the community. Thursdays from 10 am-11am & Saturdays from 11am-12noon. WOMEN'S GROUP - An education and discussion recovery group for women in the community led by a Save The Michaels recovery coach and case manager. Fridays from 12noon-1pm. NARCAN TRAINING - An education session that focuses on understanding how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose, led by NYS approved trainers. Certification given upon completion. Alcohol and substance free setting providing non-clinical support to those with substance abuse history and their families. Twelve Step meetings, veterans group, wellness activities, social events, and career guidance. Participants can work with certified recovery coaches to craft individualized recovery plans.

Provides outpatient chemical dependency programs for all ages. Offers individual/group/family therapy, ongoing assessment, and specialty groups including: Parenting/Children's Workshops, psychoeducational, couples, significant others, two-tiered mandated groups, Early Recovery, DWI, trauma recovery and anger management. Offers support to Nassau or Suffolk County residents recovering from substance abuse transitioning from inpatient treatment back home or into a sober living environment. Assists individuals in recognizing relapse triggers, addressing thoughts, beliefs and feelings and establishing a local support system. Develops an individualized relapse prevention plan.

Provides a point of access that directs adults to mental health or substance abuse services in the community.

Offers support, referrals, and advocacy to families struggling with a loved one's addictions or having difficulty navigating the treatment system and/or insurance issues. Runs a weekly support group every Wednesday at Saint Cecelia's Church.

Provides comprehensive outpatient services for people motivated to enter and sustain recovery through individual and group counseling sessions.

Offers Nassau and Suffolk County residents assistance in approaching a family member about his/her addiction and encouraging that individual to pursue treatment. Provides support for family members in recognizing how their lives have been affected and strategies for coping with the situation.

A 24 hour medically monitored crisis service unit for persons with chemical or alcohol dependency problems who are in need of a safe supportive residential environment. The program provides the following services: transportation to hospitals, treatment facilities, legal systems and other needs 24 hour short term residential chemical dependency crisis service nursing assessment and ongoing monitoring supervision of self-administration of medication TB screening, testing, and follow-up chemical dependency assessment group and individual counseling and education health and nutrition education spirituality groups provision of nutritional meals and snacks linkage to aftercare and assistance with housing.
