Higher education for educationally and economically challenged teens and young adults through counseling, workshops, financial support, which empower young people to take positive steps to improve their lives. preparation for GED exam, life skills training, pre-employment training, job placement, and referral services for students who are at risk, having problems staying in school, dropouts, or are involved in minor crimes.

Prepares high school students for college-level work while allowing them to earn transferable college credits while still in high school. Courses offered only at participating schools.

Designed to provide the opportunity of a college education to capable students who are historically disadvantaged due to limited financial resources and inadequate academic preparation. EOP students are provided ongoing support services and resources to help insure their collegiate success. Once admitted to the college via EOP, students have access to a myriad of services including but not limited to academic, pre-professional and personal counseling; tutoring; workshops; advocacy; and supplemental financial support. The Educational Opportunity Program is committed to excellence and seeks students who are truly motivated and willing to work hard to achieve their goals. Eligible students for the EOP program are students who are: Students who are residents of New York State; Students who have a high school diploma or its equivalent; Students who do not meet the regular admissions requirements of SUNY Farmingdale, but fall within the range of EOP standards and demonstrate academic potential; Students who are historically disadvantaged and meet the economic guidelines of eligibility as established by the Office of Special Programs in Albany and Students of all ethnic origins, if the above requirements are met, and meet the 2023-24 Income Guidelines specified. Services are designed to meet the unique educational needs of currently enrolled students with documented permanent/ temporary disabilities or disabling medical conditions. The Disability Services Center (DSC) is dedicated to the principle that equal opportunity be afforded each student to realize his/her fullest potential. The goal is to assist students with disabilities to function as independently as possible, and to ensure a comprehensively accessible college experience where individuals with disabilities have the same access to programs, opportunities and activities as all other students at the college. Provides a broad range of services to New York State residents. Because of educational and economic circumstances, these students would otherwise be unable to attend a postsecondary educational institution. All HEOP candidates must apply to the college through the general admissions process even if they were introduced to the HEOP by members of the HEOP team. Candidates who want to be considered for HEOP should be sure to request financial aid assistance on their general admissions application. The HEOP team reviews all potential candidate applications to ensure compliance with New York State guidelines. Financial Aid must be completed and filed with all supporting documentation for consideration. Transfer students must provide verification of their participation in another opportunity program. The HEOP team interviews all students who meet the academic and economic guidelines. College Readiness exams are scheduled alongside the interview. The number of students admitted into this program is limited, so students are strongly encouraged to apply and complete all the steps in the admissions process as early as possible for the upcoming year. Offers guidance to teenagers and young adults who want to go to college or technical school, including with help searching for financial assistance. Also provides pre-job training with interview skills, resume writing, entering the military, etc.

Represents a cooperative effort between the Suffolk County Community College and the Longwood Central School District, governmental agencies and business and industry to provide a unique, comprehensive and supportive environment for students for students who may be at risk of dropping out of school. LPP is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department. The Liberty Partnerships Program serves those students in grades 7-12 who may not be reaching their academic potential by providing academic services that will improve their ability to complete high school and successfully enter postsecondary education or the workforce. LPP students who are juniors and seniors are also eligible to enroll in a two-semester program that leads successful students to one college credit upon completion. This offering contains a one-semester non-credit course that focuses on reading, writing, study skills, critical thinking and computer skills. The second semester course exposes students to topics of interest to college students and enhances their basic research skills. Additional credit-bearing courses are offered to students who successfully complete this sequence. LPP Program Services include: College preparatory coursework; Suffolk County Community College Seminar (leads to 1.0 college credits); LPP club and newsletter; Team building experiences; Cultural enrichment activities and field trips; Counseling; Tutoring and college placement test; ACT/SAT preparation classes; Regents review sessions; Student and parent leadership sessions and Workforce preparation which includes visits to and internships with business, industry and local colleges. After school program that focuses on academics, life skills, and career and college exploration. Teens participate in classroom and group lessons in a safe environment. Summer program is for 6 weeks and during the six week period, Monday-Thursday (or four days a week), the students work at the designated internship site and Fridays (or 1 day a week) the students work on life skills, career and college exploration.

Services include enrichment courses in math, science, engineering, technology, and computing; tutoring; academic advisement; internships; counseling; SAT preparation workshops; college admissions and financial aid seminars; and career planning activities. Program staff provide services during the summer as well as throughout the academic year. Offers tutoring positions to undergraduate students in their sophomore through senior years as well as to graduate students at Buffalo State College.

SUNY Empire offers three opportunity programs: SUNY Educational Opportunity Program (EOP): A program for full-time, first-time freshmen and full-time opportunity program transfer students; Empire State Opportunity Program (ESOP): A program for full-time and part-time transfer students; Empire Promise Program (EPP): A program for first-time freshmen, continuing students, and transfer students and SUNY Empire also supports SUNY’s Foster Youth College Success Initiative (FYCSI), a state-funded program that connects youth in foster care, eligible orphans, or wards of the court who are accepted into SUNY’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) with academic support services and financial assistance to help enroll in, pay for, and successfully complete college. The Rockland Community College Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) is a dropout prevention and college access program that is funded by the New York State Education Department. RCC LPP serves 340 historically excluded students (grades 7-12) in the East Ramapo, North Rockland and Nyack school districts. Rockland Community College LPP is committed to the belief that all students can learn and should have equal access to resources.

This program focuses primarily on low income, first generation high school juniors and seniors. The program is designed to enable participants to reach challenging academic standards so that they enroll into college and/or remain in college through graduation.

Provides career counseling to individuals to help them with appropriate job choices based on skills and knowledge, which includes helping them with the process of going back to school (how to apply, financial aid, trade school or college, etc.)
