ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING | LIU POST

Offers the Advanced Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling which is a “licensure-qualifying” bridge program approved by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). In order to be admitted to the program, students must have a master's degree in school counseling or other related counseling degree and specified core educational content areas as delineated in the state regulations for mental health counselor licensure. Individuals must have a minimum of 60 graduate credits and in designated curriculum areas to qualify for licensure. Depending on the number of credits in their master's degree program candidates may be required to take additional coursework from 18-24 credits to ensure meeting the state requirements of a minimum of 60 graduate credits. Upon application candidates will have their transcript(s) reviewed by the department to ascertain the needed number of graduate credits required for the advanced certificate. Upon completion of the advanced certificate the individual will automatically meet the educational requirements for licensure as a mental health counselor in New York State. They will then be eligible to file for a “limited permit” and begin accruing the 3000 post master’s experiential hours required for licensure. They will also be eligible to file to take the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) which is the licensure examination designated by the State. There is also the possibility that the Office of the Professions may accept experiential hours gained after the receipt of the individual’s master’s degree if the experience was in an approved setting under the supervision of a recognized licensed mental health professional. EKG TECHNICIAN | NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE CONTINUING EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Offers a comprehensive course that will prepare students to sit for the EKG Technician National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exam. Students will be introduced to the basic anatomy and physiology terminology associated with the heart and circulatory systems, signs and symptoms of diseases, and the electrophysiology/conduction system of the heart. Other topics that are covered include medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, and stress testing. Students will be taught to use and operate ECG equipment. Lab sessions will provide hands-on practice for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices, as well as allow students to meet the requirement for performing EKGs on live individuals. The course has 60 hours of instructor-led sessions in the classroom. Students must attend all classes and complete assignments, including all practical skills. To sit for the NHA certifying exam, candidates must meet the requirements specified by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), including a high school diploma or equivalent. EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM | AMMERMAN CAMPUS

Offers an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors who attend our partner school districts to earn college credits while having an experience of college life. Students enroll in college classes and interact with college faculty, staff and other students. ECP students can earn college-level credits while continuing to complete high school. All classes are taught by college professors, and ECP students are integrated into classes with college students. Each program participant is assigned an ECP counselor. With guidance from the College’s Program staff, students select classes from the general education program or take a sequence of courses in a particular curriculum. Enrollment in courses through Suffolk’s Early College Program generates an official Suffolk academic transcript for each student. Successfully earned credits are accepted at Suffolk or can be transferred to a multitude of other colleges and universities. Acceptance of credit for college-level course work is under the domain of the receiving colleges and universities with general acceptance within State University of New York (SUNY) institutions. Graduates of the program have gone on to notable two and four-year institutions, including Suffolk County Community College and are strong candidates for their Honor’s Program. APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS ADVANCED CERTIFICATE | ST. JOSEPH’S UNIVERSITY
