Distance education is an attractive option for individuals who need flexibility and are self-motivated and can work independently. There is no difference in what you are expected to learn; it is the modality delivery that is different. Represents a cooperative effort between the Suffolk County Community College and the Longwood Central School District, governmental agencies and business and industry to provide a unique, comprehensive and supportive environment for students for students who may be at risk of dropping out of school. LPP is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department. The Liberty Partnerships Program serves those students in grades 7-12 who may not be reaching their academic potential by providing academic services that will improve their ability to complete high school and successfully enter postsecondary education or the workforce. LPP students who are juniors and seniors are also eligible to enroll in a two-semester program that leads successful students to one college credit upon completion. This offering contains a one-semester non-credit course that focuses on reading, writing, study skills, critical thinking and computer skills. The second semester course exposes students to topics of interest to college students and enhances their basic research skills. Additional credit-bearing courses are offered to students who successfully complete this sequence. HEALTH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY | MICHAEL J. GRANT CAMPUS
Students will participate in online instruction to develop career skills for the Health IT workforce. The Health IT online program is approximately 140-hours of online instruction that includes instruction, simulations, a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Exam Review and job preparation and career coaching. In addition, students will earn a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and participate in a 30-hour externship in a medical facility. Students will learn the practical knowledge and skills required to fill the Health IT roles in a variety of health care settings. Students will be introduced to eClinics, an electronic health record practice management software system used in the medical field. Upon successful completion of the program, students will take the certification exam administered by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). This exam will allow the student to become a Certified Associate in Health Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS). Call for more detailed information.

This curriculum provides students with a broad conceptual framework in office automation and information systems combined with a strong learning experience in communication skills, management, keyboarding, and computer applications. Brings outstanding local and nationally known artists and their work to the college in order to enrich the experiences of students, faculty, and the surrounding communities. The galleries also serve as a venue for the exhibition of artwork done by Suffolk's students and faculty. Receptions and lectures are usually held in conjunction with most exhibits, all of which are free and open to the public. Check the Arts and Entertainment Schedule for upcoming art exhibits. Galleries include the Maurice N. Flecker Memorial Gallery located on the Ammerman Campus, The Lyceum Gallery located on the Eastern Campus and Sagtikos Art Gallery located on the Grant Campus. Offers many training opportunities to develop and upgrade skills necessary to begin a career in the manufacturing field. The Center offers several programs such as CNC Operator, Welding, IPC certification, PLC/Industrial Automation, Mastercam, and Soldering and electronic assembly, among others. Each program offers a Completion Certificate upon successful completion, and offers the opportunity of National Certification in some areas. These courses are designed for the incumbent worker as well as those individuals interested in entering the manufacturing field. The AMTC provides students with a better understanding of what is required of those working in the manufacturing environment through both classroom and hands-on learning. Our location is a Certified Remote Testing Facility and provides associated testing in IPC, AWS, NATE, Certiport, and NIMS Certifications. Training is located at the Michael J. Partnering with Catholic Health and the Suffolk County Department of Labor, the Clinical Medical Assisting Program provides students with a great opportunity to earn a certificate and enter a rewarding healthcare occupation. This is a seven-and-a-half month program. The program includes: Administrative training on day-to-day activities in a medical setting, such as speaking with patients, scheduling their appointments, processing insurance forms and electronic medical record management; Clinical training on what happens with patients in the examination room, such as checking vitals, documenting information, obtaining labs and providing education and an 80 hours onsite in a medical office, ambulatory center, or hospital department externship.
