These services are provided free of charge by the following agencies: Community Legal Advocates of New York, Empire Justice Center, Liberty Defense Project, Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, Long Island Advocacy Center, Nassau Suffolk Law Services, Suffolk County Bar Association, and Touro Law Center.
Assists low-income individuals with various civil (non-criminal) legal needs.
Provides free legal representation in eight counties of Western New York. The Chautauqua County office offers legal services in the areas of: - Assisted Living - Evictions - Consumer Protection - Elder Abuse Prevention - Foreclosure Prevention - Health Care Advocacy - Housing - Income Maintenance - Substituted Decision Making - Western New York Coalition Pooled Trust Also houses the Elder Advocacy Program, a cross-systems community collaboration to address elder abuse. The Elder Advocacy Program acts as a single point-of-entry for elder abuse survivors, assessing their needs and providing appropriate legal and non-legal services to end abuse and empower survivors.

Offers legal assistance in the following areas: - Disability: Offers disability rights services and legal advice/representation to developmentally disabled individuals and others. - Family Problems: Provides assistance with kinship custody and assistance for victims of domestic violence. - Housing Problems: * Until further notice, the Housing Unit can only provide assistance with ERAP application issues and illegal lockout emergencies (ex: landlord changed locks, stopped a utility, etc. without going to court); cannot assist with any other housing-related issues at this time.* Typically helps tenants who are facing eviction or who have been locked out of their apartments. Helps people who are applying for public or subsidized housing who have been denied, or tenants in public or subsidized housing who are worried about losing their subsidy or who have questions about how their rent has been calculated. Helps tenants whose landlords are not making necessary repairs and who are forced to live under unsafe or hazardous conditions. Also provides legal assistance and advocacy to people who have encountered discrimination while looking for housing, or during their tenancy. - Entitlements Advocacy: Assists tenants with welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, SSI, and utilities.

Provides representation to youths in special immigrant juvenile matters and child maltreatment cases. The clinic advocates in the Queens, Nassau and Suffolk family courts, as well as before immigration court judges and hearing officers in Manhattan, on behalf of youth in cases where the allegations range from physical and sexual abuse to educational neglect, abandonment and inadequate supervision. In addition, the clinic often represents their clients on related issues, such as delinquency, custody and school suspension matters.
