Designed to educate divorcing or separating parents on the impact of their breakup on their children. Teaches techniques to reduce the stress of family changes and protect children from the negative effects of ongoing conflict in order to foster and promote childrens healthy adjustment and development. Addresses four topics: Creating and Maintaining Supportive Parent-Child Relationships Providing a Stable, Supportive Home Environment Maintaining Healthy Parental Functioning and Psychological Well-Being and Protecting Children from Ongoing Conflict Between Parents. Programs exist to help defendants with chemical dependency problems to reduce or eliminate certain criminal charges in exchange for participating in treatment and remaining drug and alcohol free. Services Provided Include: Clinical staff from court services working together with the judges, District Attorney's Office, and defense attorneys to engage defendants in treatment. This collaborative effort is designed to focus on chemical dependency issues that may have contributed to the offenses and to prevent recidivism into the criminal justice system. Completion of treatment may, at the discretion of the district attorney and/or judge, result in a lesser sentence / plea. In some cases, participants may avoid incarceration. In the court services programs, participants receive clinical assessments, treatment placements, case management, and crisis interventions. Designed for students, ages 16 - 21, who are assigned to the center as a recommended court placement or for at-risk students whose needs are not being met in their current school setting. The program is designed to prepare students to complete the requirements for a Regents, Local, or High School Equivalency Diploma. Courses of study will also infuse contextualized learning, career preparation, and skills achievement into daily lessons. The program model utilizes a non-traditional learning environment to enhance academic performance and offers students real-world, hands-on application of skills through a collaborative work experience opportunity at Pal-O-Mine’s Equestrian, Inc. The program also encompasses individual and group counseling, substance abuse counseling, employment and soft skills training. Each participant’s treatment plan is individualized to address his or her needs, strengths and challenges. This program will provide a seamless continuum of transitional services to students. Each student will meet with a counselor to establish an individualized transition plan. The transition plan will focus on meeting educational, employment and transportation needs in addition to connecting students with community-based organizations and resources. Eastern Suffolk BOCES has developed partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies to create links to resources that provide support to at-risk students.

Provides home visiting case management to at risk youth and works to prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system. Services include, but are not limited to, informal counseling, including parenting, 1:1 anger management, school advocacy, tutoring, substance abuse, counseling and recreational programs. Services are offered in both English and Spanish.

We provide a Batterer's Intervention Program for male and female perpetrators of domestic violence. Our program is based off the Duluth Model of Domestic Violence Intervention. We provide intakes and evaluations for individuals mandated by Suffolk and Nassau County Courts, Child Protection Services, New York State Parole, Suffolk County Probation Department, and other local referral sources. We also accept individuals from the community who are not legally mandated, but are voluntarily seeking out Domestic Violence Intervention/Batterer's Services for themselves and their loved ones. Our program is a minimum of 32 weeks for successful completion, however sometimes the recommendation is for a longer stay in the program. We provide group and individual services. We also facilitate offender groups that are specific to parenting themes.

Offers a workshop series on anger management to Nassau and Suffolk County residents. Through a variety of activities, participants will learn skills to manage stress and anger while developing empathy, better judgment and impulse control. Provides strategies for conflict resolution and communication training. Offers a variety of formats (one day class, 12 week series or individual coaching). Accepted by the court system, CPS and probation departments.

Dedicated court part that seeks to craft a meaningful response to the problems posed by defendants with mental illness in the criminal justice system. Judicial monitoring is provided to assure that the court mandated treatment plan is followed by the client, and mental health case management is used to link clients to treatment programs and related services as an alternative to incarceration. Provides direct support to law enforcement to ensure an up-to-date sex offender registry. Provides support to community members who want to report registrants potentially in violation of registration laws.

Receives reports of suspected child abuse and neglect and forwards these reports to the appropriate local district for an investigation. Not intended to be used as an emergency response law enforcement should be contacted for emergencies. Provides information and referrals in instances where the call does not result in a child protective report but further assistance is desired. Serves children birth to 18 years and 18-21 years old placed by the State Education Department into specified residential facilities.

Offers a temporary home for 11 to 18 year old children who are court mandated. Provides a school program, individual counseling, and group dynamics. The Our Lady of Peace Academy is a free standing alternative school for grades 7 through 12. Individualized instruction and private tutoring is provided by qualified teachers.

Provides educational programs within the community and schools within the Town of Southold via the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program and other programs that explore the law and responsibility in an attempt to prevent crime. Educates youth in various safety areas (for example bicycle, babysitting, etc.).

The Court Liaison Unit includes the Preventive/Post Institutional Project, and Reach for Peace (Gang/Violence Protection). These programs provide legal advocacy, case management and counseling services to youth in the adult/juvenile criminal justice system who are under age 21 and reside in Long Beach, Island Park, East Atlantic Beach, Lido Beach or Point Lookout. Advocates alternatives to incarceration and provides transitional services for youth returning to the community from residential placement

Responds to all allegations of sexual abuse of a minor by a priest, deacon, or other religious officials. Responsibilities include initial report and intake, meeting with the complainant, notifications, notice to the accused, and disclosures to the victim. The Diocesan Review Board reviews the case and sends their recommendation to the Bishop. This agency also aids in restorative healing responses to victims, families, parishes and communications, immediate and ongoing intervention to repair harm and promote healing, coordination of medical evaluation and treatment services, spiritual guidance, identification of support groups and other social services and resources for healing. Offers a supervision program for at-risk, pre-teen and youngsters under the age of 16. Focuses on establishing a discipline structure within the family with parenting skills offered. Supervised study group for at-risk juveniles failing subjects. Youth counselors function as parent advocate for juveniles needing services of the Justice and/or Mental Health System. Program is for parents and children together.
