Provides a program for expectant parents with children 2 1/2 years or older. Includes a film about being a big brother or big sister and bring a baby home from the hospital a tour of the nursery and a room similar to Mom's Room and a question and answer session. Call for schedule of meetings.

Plans, coordinates and evaluates the activities of public, private and nonprofit agency services devoted to youth under age 21 within the town. To accomplish this, the Youth Bureau finds three community-based youth service agencies. They provide counseling, tutoring, mentoring, job readiness, after school program, leadership programs, volunteer activities, drop-in lounge, open gyms and summer day and evening programs. The Youth Bureau also oversees the Islip Town Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs. Room 312.

Certain inherited diseases occur more frequently in a given ethnic or racial group than in the general population. The Jewish Genetic Disease Program provides education, genetic screening, genetic counseling and clinical services for individuals or families commonly affected by these diseases. Fanconi Anemia (Type C), Tay-Sachs Disease, Canavan Diseases, Niemann-Pick Disease, Bloom Syndrome,Mucolipodosis (Type lV), Gaucher Disease (Type l), Familial Dysautonomia and Cystic Fibrosis are among the many genetic diseases that have been tested.

Oversees 12 acres of park that include Softball fields, Little League fields, Tennis courts, Playground, All Children's Playground, picnic area, Handball Courts, Basketball Court, Skateboard Park, and Soccer/Football fields. Provides information, referral, assessments and evaluations for children with suspected delays in physical, cognitive, language or emotional development. Services also provided in case management, parent/family training, support groups, early intervention programs, preschool services, school age services and evaluations, clinical services for children 0-21 years old. Bilingual teams provide evaluations in over 40 languages(including English). Also provides preschool educational and speech screenings and parent workshops at other locations when requested. Through center-based programs and home visits, provides comprehensive child development and family support services to low income families with children under three and pregnant women. Holds summer programs at neighborhood recreation centers for grades K-6. Holds a half-day playground program for preschoolers on Tuesday and Thursday or Mon, Wed, Fri. Holds a recreation day camp for ages 7-12 and a counselor-in-training program. Call for place, time, and fees. Fall programs for adults and children include LEAP after school program, programs for 3 and 4 year olds, after school recreation (arts and crafts, physical fitness, story times, consumer education, sports programs and pools). Buildings rented out for parties--fees vary.

Works with parents, providers, businesses, and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in the area. Provides parents with referrals and information on evaluating quality child care, plus resources on various parenting issues. Also offers providers access to valuable training and support services for new or established programs.

Offers Mommy and Me programs for parents and children 4 months-4 years old. Classes include baby playgroups, toddlers programs, separation programs, music, crafts, socialization, and birthday parties. Classes are 90 minutes from Monday through Friday. Assists adopted adults (over 18 yrs) who are searching for their original families. Membership includes adoptees (over 18 yrs), birth parents (whose children have reached 18 yrs of age), foster children (over 18 yrs) and adoptive parents. Offers registry databank search, workshops, advocates for the rights of adoptees.

A 2 week summer sleep away camp for girls ages 7-11 who qualiify for USDA free or reduced lunch program.
