Provides services to prevent out of home placement for children whose families are referred by Nassau County DSS.. Outreach services include assessment of family concerns, intensive counseling, clinical services including individual and family therapy, referral to other necessary agencies, advocacy, parent education/groups, social/educational activities for the whole family.

Provides adults with a psychiatric disability ages 18 and over with a single room in a community residence that offers varying levels of supervision and assistance.

Presents a series of workshops that motivate, educate and empower both adults and youth on the importance of reducing gang violence. Focuses on topics such as prevention/intervention, perils of gang life, decision making and gang awareness among others. Presents workshops for groups, schools and organizations. Creates multi-agency and public/private partnerships with Early Head Start and Head Start programs at the state level. These partnerships are intended to help build early childhood systems, enhance access to comprehensive services for low-income families, encourage collaboration among Head Start and other programs and services, and facilitate the involvement of Head Start in state policies, plans, processes and decisions affecting Head Start target populations. Priority issues are violence prevention, service acquisition, information access and coordination of planning and policy with other state, public, and private programs.

Provides HIV treatment and care information, free of charge, to people living with HIV, their providers and support networks. Provides brief crisis intervention, short-term counseling, mediation, advocacy and/or referral for youth who are runaways or homeless or at risk of becoming runaways due to family conflicts. Referral to emergency shelter or group homes.

Provides home visiting case management to at risk youth and works to prevent further involvement in the juvenile justice system. Services include, but are not limited to, informal counseling, including parenting, 1:1 anger management, school advocacy, tutoring, substance abuse, counseling and recreational programs. Services are offered in both English and Spanish.

Assists Hispanic youth and their families in the acculturation process. Addresses problems associated with scholastic underachievement, family dysfunction, domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect. Provides individual and group counseling, family mediation, parent education series, crisis intervention, and school intervention to assist Hispanic youth and their families. Offers after school homework help/tutoring and six week summer camp.

Family Court Act - tries to keep situations out of court. Probation Officers process and investigate youths who have been in trouble by being truant from school, runaway or incorrigible who require supervision. Works with client and family to resolve the situation by mentoring, guidance or will refer to out side counselling. Parent or legal guardian can refer youths to the PINS program.

Serves boys, ages 10-17, who suffer serious emotional disturbance. Offers a highly structured, treatment oriented, cost effective alternative to placement in a psychiatric hospital. Located in McKeown House on the Syosset campus.

Provides an intensive outpatient program for women and women with children that offers medically supervised services within a safe, supportive, gender-specific environment. Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (NYS OASAS).

Works to reduce gang violence and promote a variety of opportunities and other competencies that give the youth in the local community alternatives to a violent life on the street.Provides a wide array of services for youth already involved in the criminal system including case management, social work services, counseling, and Moral Reconation Therapy. Also provides community based and school based prevention services to youth at risk for engaging in criminal.

Provides full day outdoor programs of hiking and wilderness challenges for at risk adolescents. Groups travel by van to State and County Parks. Call for further information.

Encourages youth to establish a good work ethic through employment and workshops. Promotes punctuality, teamwork, how to follow rules and regulations, as well as respect of self, co-workers and supervisors. At- risk youth are selected between the ages of 14-18. Interviews are held in May and orientation in June. Employment is seven weeks, Monday-Friday. Worksites are established within the community at local churches, schools, agencies, parks and beaches. Workshops are given throughout the program in areas such as Banking, Job Attitudes, Career Goals, Job Interviewing and Resume Writing. Provides volunteer support and guidance, to women during and after pregnancy. Recruits, trains and links volunteers to pregnant women in need of support and provides on-going follow-ups.
