EARLY INTERVENTION EVALUATIONS AND SERVICES | KIDS FIRST EVALUATION AND ADVOCACY CENTER - NASSAU

Conducts evaluations (at home or community school) for children birth through 3 years old, suspected of having developmental delays. SOCIAL SKILLS | SOCIAL SKILLS

Offers a 10 week session to promote positive peer relationships among children with an autism spectrum disorder and/or a developmental disability. The sessions are comprised of role playing, emotional recognition, social stories and scripting. This is a private pay program and the fee is based upon the families yearly income. ADOLESCENT PAVILLION | ZUCKER HILLSIDE HOSPITAL

Provides acute, intense, short-term, inpatient psychiatric treatment to adolescents ages 12-17. Aims to achieve rapid stabilization to make possible ongoing treatment in a less restrictive setting. A variety of behavioral and emotional problems are treated including: anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders and other disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders including major depression, bipolar disorders and psychotic disorders. INFORMATION LINE | NEW YORK STATE OFFICE FOR PEOPLE WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (OPWDD)

Helps people get answers to questions about supports and services for individuals with developmental disabilities in New York State. Also takes complaints of alleged misconduct, fraud, waste and abuse in the OPWDD service system. Requests for information will be referred to someone who will return the call. Representatives available in English and Spanish speaking or translation services available for other languages.

Provides an opportunity for social interaction to further specific skill development relating to handicapped condition, and to encourage individuals to advocate on their own behalf. Provides referrals to respite and recreation programs. Support groups for siblings of the disabled. A mental health based program provides a range of psychotherapeutic service for individuals with highly specialized needs including the physically and developmentally disabled.
