Provides acute, intense, short-term, inpatient psychiatric treatment to adolescents ages 12-17. Aims to achieve rapid stabilization to make possible ongoing treatment in a less restrictive setting. A variety of behavioral and emotional problems are treated including: anxiety disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders and other disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders including major depression, bipolar disorders and psychotic disorders. Offers a patient support group for individuals diagnosed with a blood cancer. Meetings are facilitated by a social worker and an oncology nurse. Call for locations and times.

Delivers frozen meals weekly to those who are unable to prepare meals, have difficulty shopping for food and have no one available to assist them while they are incapacitated or recuperating from an illness or accident. Eligible seniors can receive a total of 5 meals weekly from the Congregate Nutrition Program, the Home Delivered Meal Program or a combination of the two. A voluntary contribution of $2.00 per meal is suggested. Meals will not be denied if no donation can be made. Please call for information.

Promotes the use of spoken language by children and adults with hearing loss. Members include parents of children with hearing loss, adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, educators, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and other professionals in fields related to hearing loss and deafness. Services include advocacy, information and referral, biennial convention, financial aid and scholarships, leadership programs for teens and college students, mentoring programs for adolescents, and publication of information on deafness and spoken language. Provides diabetes education for individuals and their families in Suffolk County Health Centers and in the community. Classes are offered at various locations throughout the county, during day and evening, to promote self-management of diabetes and weight management in efforts to prevent or delay the complications associated with diabetes.

Provides educational services for children with language and autism spectrum disorders in grades 9-12. Also offers speech language therapy, counseling, psychological services, rehabilitative services, vocational services, parent training and school health and nursing services.

Provides financial assistance to needy kidney patients, transplant recipients, and donors to help cover the cost of treatment, medication transportation, emergency transient dialysis, medical equipment, etc. Has several programs: Individual Grants Program, Pharmacy Grant Program, Emergency Fund Program, Discount Pharmacy Card, Health Insurance Premium Program, Disaster Relief Program, Sherer Travel-Related Dialysis Program, and the Pediatric Campership Program.
