Teaches job readiness, helps build skills, and enables youth to gain real work experience.

Evaluates children and adolescents from families referred for elevated risk. Offers specialized comprehensive family based dietary and lifestyle modifications for children with elevated cholesterol and obesity. Prescribes dietary supplements, exercise and medication as indicated.

Provides a unique program designed for adolescents and their family who are committed to losing weight but who have had poor results with conventional diets or summer camps. The goals of the program are to help pre-teens and teens reach and maintain their ideal weight while making healthy lifestyle changes. ON TARGET offers a medically supervised 12 month program that promotes weight loss, and enables the family to develop a supportive home environment, which significantly improves the chances of long term success.

Provides consultation, evaluation and individual, group and family treatments for children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional difficulties and their families. Specialized programs under Ambulatory Care include medication evaluation and treatment legal services for divorce, abuse and criminal justice issues psycholtherapy for gay and lesbian youth and parent and professional education. Serves boys, ages 10-17, who suffer serious emotional disturbance. Offers a highly structured, treatment oriented, cost effective alternative to placement in a psychiatric hospital. Located in McKeown House on the Syosset campus.

Provides a series of programs designed to enhance the public's knowledge of and confidence in the New York Court System. Outreach services are provided to foster partnerships between the courts and local governments, community and civic groups, schools and the legal profession. Programs and events include: Court Tours and Speakers Bureau, Justice for Seniors, Media seminars, Domestic Violence Awareness, Careers Day, NYS Fair, Court Open House Day, Juror Appreciation Week, and National Jury Summit. Services include classroom visits, educational videos, court user brochures and mentoring. Representatives go into schools to provide workshops on topics such as drug court, careers, court jurisdiction and structure. Initiatives to continue beyond 2000 include tours of facilities, mentoring programs and workshops.

Provides high school students a S.A.T. preparatory workshop with intensive review in English and Mathematics.

CAPP is a free and confidential program that offers a range of services to address the issues surrounding the reproductive and sexual health of young teens and young adults up to age 21 (including those with developmental disabilities).

Plans, coordinates and evaluates the activities of public, private and nonprofit agency services devoted to youth under age 21 within the town. To accomplish this, the Youth Bureau finds three community-based youth service agencies. They provide counseling, tutoring, mentoring, job readiness, after school program, leadership programs, volunteer activities, drop-in lounge, open gyms and summer day and evening programs. The Youth Bureau also oversees the Islip Town Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs. Room 312.

Provides comprehensive mental health services to patients in their own homes. Offers specialized programs for patients of various ages. Arranges for other services for patients as needed and advocates for patients/families. Receives reports of suspected child abuse and neglect and forwards these reports to the appropriate local district for an investigation. Not intended to be used as an emergency response law enforcement should be contacted for emergencies. Provides information and referrals in instances where the call does not result in a child protective report but further assistance is desired. Serves children birth to 18 years and 18-21 years old placed by the State Education Department into specified residential facilities.

Afternoon recreation programs for middle school youth in safe, supervised environment. Programs focus on healthy development, positive skill-building, prevention, and enrichment through activities like sports, music and arts, games, wellness events, and more.
