To accomplish this, the Youth Bureau finds three community-based youth service agencies. Offers a ten week summer course for college students in the field of journalism. A letter from the college they are attending is required along with students transcript. Program is open to all but targets those affected by divorce, separation, alcohol, drug abuse, violence. Staff include licensed social workers, family specialists, special ed teachers, child and youth care workers, performing artists, and trained facilitators. Approved for court mandated clients.

Holds summer programs at neighborhood recreation centers for grades K-6. Holds a half-day playground program for preschoolers on Tuesday and Thursday or Mon, Wed, Fri. Holds a recreation day camp for ages 7-12 and a counselor-in-training program. Call for place, time, and fees. Fall programs for adults and children include LEAP after school program, programs for 3 and 4 year olds, after school recreation (arts and crafts, physical fitness, story times, consumer education, sports programs and pools). Provides a place where youth can gather to socialize and interact with peers. Activities include table games, movies, wii games, refreshments, etc. The lounge is under the supervision of a professional staff member.

Oversees 12 acres of park that include Softball fields, Little League fields, Tennis courts, Playground, All Children's Playground, picnic area, Handball Courts, Basketball Court, Skateboard Park, and Soccer/Football fields. Offers recreational programs for all ages including sports, dance, instructional, arts and crafts, bus trips, fitness and exercise and other activities. Programs change seasonally. Encourages youth to establish a good work ethic through employment and workshops. Promotes punctuality, teamwork, how to follow rules and regulations, as well as respect of self, co-workers and supervisors. At- risk youth are selected between the ages of 14-18. Interviews are held in May and orientation in June. Employment is seven weeks, Monday-Friday. Worksites are established within the community at local churches, schools, agencies, parks and beaches. Workshops are given throughout the program in areas such as Banking, Job Attitudes, Career Goals, Job Interviewing and Resume Writing. Provides access to LI Jewish Medical Center, Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York, Hillside Hospital and North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset for individuals who are deaf or deaf/blind who use the medical center. Services are also available for deaf family members involved in a patient's health care. Includes sign language interpreter access, TTY access, television captioning, hospital signage, staff education and sign language classes for hospital personnel

Provides residential services to developmentally disabled individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors. These homes are located on both the main campus in Smithtown and DDI's Huntington Campus. Children in residence attend Developmental Disabilities Institute Day School and then return to their residence where supervised recreation and daily living activities continue. Program operates 365 days per year

Provides nine volumes on Long Island Natives and Archaeology, curriculum booklets, posters, etc. for students. Offers programs in libraries, schools, Hoyt Farm Park, and Blydenburgh County Park. Appointment required.

Offers five week program of organized, supervised recreation including arts and crafts, sports, music, and special events. Conducts counselor-in-training program for 14-15 year olds (unsalaried).

Offers: Parent/Child Gymnastics program for children ages 2-3 1/2 with parent, Tots Gymnastics for 3 1/2-5 years old, and Munchkin Gymnastics for children ages 5-7 years old, each in four once-weekly sessions.
