Promotes the use of spoken language by children and adults with hearing loss. Members include parents of children with hearing loss, adults who are deaf or hard of hearing, educators, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and other professionals in fields related to hearing loss and deafness. Services include advocacy, information and referral, biennial convention, financial aid and scholarships, leadership programs for teens and college students, mentoring programs for adolescents, and publication of information on deafness and spoken language. Other programs include: Bell's Kids a mentoring program for children ages 8-12 and adults with hearing loss Educational Advocacy Initiative an initiative whose aim is to ensure that families have a choice when selecting an educational program for their child who is deaf or heard of hearing Online Chats which hosts online chats on a variety of issues pertaining to hearing loss Public School Caucus Assistance Project which assists school districts in establishing auditory/oral programs and/or strengthening existing auditory/oral programs Leadership Enrichment Adventure Program (LEAP) a preeminent program for college students with hearing loss Leadership Opportunities For Teens (LOFT) a preeminent program for high school students with hearing loss and Cyber Mentoring where members are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to directly enhance the training of teachers in the field of education for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Other resources such as interlibrary loan, off-campus access to databases and recalls may not available to guest borrowers. The Health Sciences Library is an integrated system that includes libraries at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and The Zucker Hillside Hospitals. All employees of Long Island Jewish Medical Center, attending physicians on staff, students participating in current clinical rotations, and authorized volunteers are eligible for library privileges. The library is open to the public for use of on-site collections and access to consumer health online and print resources including authoritative consumer health web sites. The LIJ Library subscribes to over 600 online or print journals and maintains an on-site collection of 20,000 books and journal volumes covering all medical specialties, nursing, and health care administration. The Zucker Hillside Library specializes in psychiatry, and psychology, with over 140 journal subscriptions and a collection of 16,000 books and journal volumes.

A technical assistance and information center offers free information and referral services to parents and professionals for children (birth-5 years), who have special needs. Areas of assistance include parent training, education and referrals to: evaluation, infant stimulation, preschool special education, therapy (physical, occupational, speech) mental health services, support groups, financial entitlements and recreation, to ensure that children are linked to appropriate services and supports in the least restrictive environment/natural settings. Also provides community training and eduction for general and special education early childhood professionals.
