Provide daytime or evening access to heated facilities during times of extreme cold for people who are temporarily at risk for exposure due to a power failure, fuel shortage, road closure, homelessness or other situations which make them vulnerable. Code Blue warming site is activated when the windchill and/or temperature reaches 15*F or below. Nassau County has many services available to help residents during extreme weather conditions to ensure no one is left out in the cold or extreme heat. Warming Centers and Cooling Centers facilities are opened as needed at various locations throughout Nassau County. Call for detailed information regarding facility locations and times.

Maintains a comprehensive database of Health and Human Service agencies and programs and also functions as one of the primary sources which links these services to the providers in the community, including disaster or weather related or information, such as road and bridge closures or other problems caused by the weather or other natural disasters.

Ulster County Emergency Warming Center at Clinton Ave United Methodist Church is a temporary shelter open to the public when Ulster County declares a Code Blue emergency. Open from 7:00 pm-7:00 am when open. Call for information.

A community center on the West Side of Buffalo that provides after school programming for youth ages 8-18. Offers board games, pool and ping pong tables, computer and internet access, books, a gym, and snacks. Recreation programs include sports programs, gym and game room activities, as well as field trips, arts and crafts, and other special events available through a partnership with Buffalo PAL (Police Athletic League). Serves as a Cooling Center during times of excessive heat and as a Warming Center during times of excessive cold. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling or Warming Center is open before going there.
