Emergency Warming Center The facility will remain open to anyone from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am every night through mid-April 2025

An overnight shelter with dinner and a cot from 8:30 pm-6:00 am. Also, a warming center at a nearby location from 6:30 am-2:30 pm.

Offers a list of facilities that may be activated as Warming Facilities during an Excessive Cold Event as determined by the National Weather Service for Suffolk County. During excessive cold conditions, review the operating hours and call before you go to make sure the location is open.

NRD provides a location for people during extreme heat who have no air conditioning or have a power shut down due to a heat wave.

Provide daytime or evening access to heated facilities during times of extreme cold for people who are temporarily at risk for exposure due to a power failure, fuel shortage, road closure, homelessness or other situations which make them vulnerable. Code Blue warming site is activated when the windchill and/or temperature reaches 15*F or below. Law Enforcement agencies or any other organizations that come in contact with or becomes aware of any individuals that are in need of sheltering can bring them to the warming center. Activation date and time varies. Ulster County Emergency Warming Center at Clinton Ave United Methodist Church is a temporary shelter open to the public when Ulster County declares a Code Blue emergency. Open from 7:00 pm-7:00 am when open. Call for information.

Public library; computers are available for individual use. Offers computer classes and children's programming. Notary services, facing digital printing services available too. City of Niagara Falls extreme cold warming center. Serves as a Cooling Center for individuals during times of excessive heat. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling Center is open before going there.

Recreation programs include gym and game room activities, pool and ping-pong tables, games, arts and crafts. Also hosts the South Buffalo Community Association senior center (see separate record). Serves as a City of Buffalo Cooling Center during times of extreme heat and as a Warming Center during times of extreme cold. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling/Warming Center is open before going there.

Senior Social Care Program providing Stay Fit Dining where enrolled seniors are eligible to receive nutritious lunches, weekly social and physical activities, and educational programs. Also provides a bread and pastry pantry with access to fresh fruits and vegetables. Serves as a Cooling Center during times of extreme heat. Always call to make sure a Cooling Center is open before going there.

Provides homeless and utility emergency after-hours referrals and intervention services.

ITU is a union by and for the tenants of Ithaca, to protect tenant rights and advance tenant collective power. It offers help with tenancy issues and has a helpline where volunteer tenants with experience can offer solidarity and limited support. It has an Upstate NY Tenant's Rights Guide (https://www.ithacatu.org/rights) available online. It also advocates for public policy that protects tenants.Winter 2025/2026- Community Mutual Aid and Warming Center, every evening 5pm-9pm at the First Baptist Church, 309 North Cayuga Street. Hot tea and warm place to hang out. Supplies available may include hand warmers, socks, non perishable snacks, blankets, gloves, bandaids, etc. Visitors may also request items as needed.
