The division examines, files and maintains numerous documents vital to business and state government including state and local laws, oaths of office, trademarks, certificates of incorporation, and Uniform Commercial Code Article 9 financing statements. Regulates professional boxing and wrestling contests, matches, and exhibitions within the State of New York pursuant to Title 25 of the Unconsolidated Laws. Comprised of three members appointed by the governor, in addition to a physician, a Medical Advisory Board, and staff, SAC administers licenses, enforces rules and regulations, and ensures that medical and safety standards are being met. It provides training seminars for referees, judges, and inspectors, oversees hundreds of events annually across the state, and is committed to promoting and maintaining the health, safety and integrity of its regulated athletic activities.

Oversees and advises the government, public, and news media on Freedom of Information, Open Meetings, and Personal Privacy Protection Laws. The Committee offers guidance in response to phone inquiries, prepares written legal advisory opinions, and provides training to government and other interested groups. Recommendation to improve open government laws are offered in an annual report to the Governor and the State Legislature.

Regulates and provides technical assistance and training to probation departments in 57 counties and New York City; trains probation officers employed by these local agencies; and oversees and develops standards for alternatives to incarceration programs administered by government and not-for-profit organizations and agencies across the state. Also oversees and funds 20 county-based, Re-entry Task Forces, composed of community-based organizations that provide housing, treatment and employment services to individuals returning from state incarceration to their communities. ##REENTRY##
