Provides one-on-one counseling and training for existing small business owners or to individuals considering starting a small business in the Nassau and Suffolk counties. The center is staffed by professionals with knowledge and experience to provide expert counseling and training for addressing the myriad of problems inherent in the start up and operation of small business. Services, all free of charge, include assistance with Business Plan Development, Small Business Start-Up assistance, Organizational Structures, Financial Planning, Export Assistance, Cost Analysis, Financing Strategies, Loan Information Assistance, Marketing, and Training Programs. The center counseling is free though a small charge may be made for actual costs associated with training courses or research. Call for details and an appointment. A federal agency working to help improve the economy and quality of life in rural areas. Helps rural residents buy or rent safe, affordable housing and make health and safety repairs to their homes. Programs include Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program, Single Family Housing Direct Home Loans, and Single Family Housing Repair Loans & Grants. Offers loans, grants, and loan guarantees to help create jobs and support economic development and essential services such as housing; health care; first responder services and equipment; and water, electric, and communications infrastructure. Promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks, credit unions, and community-managed lending pools. Offers technical assistance and information to help agricultural producers and cooperatives get started and improve the effectiveness of their operations. Provides technical assistance to help communities undertake community empowerment programs.

Through implementation of various technical and financing programs the department acts as a one-stop resource for all type of business sectors and their respective needs. We assist private enterprise, not-for-profit organizations and municipalities in the production of workforce housing that offers opportunities for our highly educated and skilled workforce to remain here in Suffolk County. Through various grants the department encouraging tourism and downtown revitalization both which support the quality of life our residents have come to enjoy and expect.
