Provides 12-month school program that integrates intensive clinical and special education services. Program serves 18 boys and girls (5-12 yrs at admission) with a Committee on Special Education classification of emotionally disturbed or psychiatric diagnosis with psychotic features, or if without psychotic features, experiencing a functional deficit in home, school or peer relations.

Serves youngsters ages 5-18 who are diagnosed as having a severe emotional disorder and who need extensive psychiatric support. Diagnostic categories include, but are not limited to: attention deficit, anxiety, schizophrenia, paranoia and affective autism spectrum disorders. Services include 6:1:1 or 8:1:1 placement with appropriate support staff at the Sayville Academic Center and 8:1:1 placement with appropriate support staff at the Sequoya High School and Jefferson Academic Center. Psychiatric, rehabilitation, social work, and psychological services are offered. Students who no longer need intense psychiatric support can remain at their respective centers and receive counseling from Eastern Suffolk BOCES staff.

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 8-session class for families, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental health conditions, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members.
Teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Offers an 8-hour training that gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. This training is appropriate for: Employers; Police Officers; Hospital Staff; First Responders; Faith Leaders; Community Members and Caring Individuals. Offers a social and recreational group for adults recovering from mental illness. The groups helps to reduce isolation and loneliness, and develop friendships, and enjoy recreational and social activities. Other activities include field trips, shopping, movies and dining out within the community.
