ADULT LEARNING CENTER | ADULT LEARNING CENTER

Empowers adults to reach their highest potential as learners, parents, consumers and citizens through education and technology. Courses are offered in: English For Speakers Of Other Languages; Adult Basic Education; Preparation for The General Education Development Test (GED® Test); National External Diploma Program; Guidance and Counseling Services and Workplace Skill Development. In addition the Long Beach Literacy Zone and Family Welcome Center provides assessment, case management and support services. Services and offerings include ESOL classes, GED preparation, Adult Basic Education, academic counseling, family literacy, social services referrals and case management. The welcome center hub assesses the needs, goals and barriers to education for participants and supports families along a pathway out of poverty. PATHWAYS - SUPERVISED PROGRAM | TRANSITIONAL SERVICES OF NEW YORK FOR LONG ISLAND

Provides supervised living programs for 32 residents on the grounds of Pilgrim Psychiatric Center and 44 residents in four houses in the community. Vocational training, volunteer placement, employment, day treatment or continuing education are encouraged. Emphasis is on ADL and enhancing socialization skills. Specialized programs are also available for MICA, and low motivated residents.

ROSE HOUSE - STABILIZATION CENTER | PEOPLE (PROJECTS TO EMPOWER AND ORGANIZE THE PSYCHIATRICALLY LABELED) ROSE HOUSE- PUTNAM COUNTY

Provides an alternative to inpatient, psychiatric-related hospitalization through staff safe, supportive community houses to provide person-centered peer support and retreat for persons in emotional or near crisis states for up to seven days. Guests self-refer, come and go as they desire, and have 24/7 access to peer counseling/support and education to assist through troubling times. Mobile response team also provided for Dutchess county. Hospital Diversion Houses have helped many people to regain wellness while maintaining independence in the community.
