At Peconic Bay Medical Center, you become an integral part of the medical center team. Every effort is made to schedule hours and days on a flexible basis. Junior Volunteers are high school students ages 16-17 with working papers who volunteer and can obtain valuable experience for future careers. Junior Volunteers who have given 100 hours of service and are pursuing advanced education for a healthcare career may qualify for an Auxiliary Healthcare Award. Junior Volunteers serve as Care Providers on nursing units and in offices throughout the hospital. Recruits volunteers who want to provide compassionate and supportive care to terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteer opportunities include, patient care support, 11th Hour (sitting with a dying patient and providing emotional support to the family), pet therapy (dog owners can accompany their pet to visit patients), and clerical duties.

Offers an adult volunteer the opportunity to either work with patients or help staff with clerical and courier duties in a clinical or administrative area. We are looking for volunteers to join our team who are willing to work a three to four hour shift each week with a minimum of 100 hours a year. In addition a Junior Volunteer Program is offered and welcomes junior high and high school-aged young adults to volunteer with us. You can work after school, on weekends or during spring and summer breaks. Volunteers do variety of tasks from cleaning, cooking, and gardening to offering listening ear. Volunteers staff house during one or more shifts (9:00 am - Noon; Noon - 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm; 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm any day of week). Volunteers answer phones, help out with light cleaning such as load the dishwasher, show guest the house, and help guest get settled.

Offers one- and two-bedroom apartments. Utilities (except telephone) included with rent. Also provides skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services in nursing home setting. Includes both health-related and skilled nursing levels of care, as well as support services of social worker.
