Offers volunteer opportunities for people of all ages and walks of life who, for a myriad of reasons, offer their time and energy in the service of others. At Peconic Bay Medical Center, you become an integral part of the medical center team. Every effort is made to schedule hours and days on a flexible basis. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the hospital in various departments. Junior Volunteers are high school students ages 16-17 with working papers who volunteer and can obtain valuable experience for future careers. Junior Volunteers who have given 100 hours of service and are pursuing advanced education for a healthcare career may qualify for an Auxiliary Healthcare Award. Junior Volunteers serve as Care Providers on nursing units and in offices throughout the hospital. In addition the Peconic Bay Medical Center Auxiliary is a non-profit organization, founded in 1951, which supports and complements patient care and community service at Peconic Bay Medical Center by assisting patients, relatives and visitors in a responsible manner with compassion and courtesy. Operates a not-for-profit 144-bed community hospital, who serves as the primary resource for advanced healthcare services for the 250,000+ residents of the Riverhead area, eastern central Suffolk County, and Long Island's North Fork. In addition to a network of community-based primary care and specialty physician offices, we also operate Suffolk County's largest certified home health agency, and a community-based ambulatory and immediate care campus in Manorville, NY.
