The Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) supplies people over 60 with counseling regarding Medicare A, B and D, QMB, SLMB, retiree health plans, other health insurance, medigap policies, long term care insurance, claim processing, EPIC, etc. THe Office for the Aging needs volunteers for its health insurance counseling helpline. To become a volunteer, one must go through HIICAP training

The Information Resource Center provides individualized information, counseling, and support about the diagnosis and management of Marfan Syndrome and related disorders to patients, family members and medical professionals. Recruits and trains bereavement volunteers to help patients who are dying, and help families and friends cope with the loss or pending loss. Volunteers will help by spending time with a dying patient so caregivers or family members can run errands, take a break, etc or help to facilitate support groups for children, teens and adults, and assist those in the grieving process. Hospice offers a series of 4 training workshops: Identify Phases in Grieving, Learn to Assist Those Grieving, Learn to Facilitate Support Groups, Expand and Learn Communication and Supportive Skills.

Project HUGS (Help Understanding Grief Situations) will provide grieving children in local participating school districts with opportunities to express themselves; identify and share their feelings; develop positive coping skills, and better understand their loss situation as they take the necessary steps toward healing. Referrals to mental health agencies are made whenever such services are warranted.
