Zoo Education Volunteers (Docents) help to guide tours, spotlight animals, and educate the public about environmental issues around the world and at home. Gardening volunteers maintain the gardens on site. Special event volunteers assist with various tasks during the zoo's fundraising events throughout the year

The Friends of Cedarmere hosts a variety of events throughout the year including: Poetry Series, gardening events, concerts, dance programs, book talks, history seminars, painting classes and guided tours. Offers 25,000-square-foot Museum of American Armor, just inside the grounds of the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. The ability of the museum to create a military armored column among vintage farm houses and country roads, accurately replicating the sights and sounds of American forces during World War II, stands as one of the most compelling educational tools our region has at its disposal, in telling the seminal story of American courage, valor, and sacrifice, a virtual time machine. Offers an opportunity for craft vendors to display and sell their products.

Provides visitors with a unique and wonderful opportunity to step back in time and experience life in a recreated mid-19th-century American village. Offers a 62-acre site set along Hempstead Harbor on the scenic North Shore, Garvies Point includes permanent exhibits and educational programs devoted to regional geology and Native-American archaeology. In addition, changing exhibits cover a variety of natural history subjects. There are about five miles of marked nature trails including trails for the visually impaired. Offers volunteer opportunities as Arts Ambassadors who conduct visits to observe programs and activities at cultural organizations supported by ArtsWestchester, including artist residencies in schools and community sites. In addition other opportunities include gallery sitters, host receptions and events at the Arts Exchange, and assist at special events.

Preserving Long Island's rich aerospace heritage of discovery and inspiring future generations through science and technology. Permanent and changing exhibits, incorporates educational programs and an IMAX theater. Presents full-size dioramic scenes/displays relative to aviation history. Seeks volunteers to assist with recreational therapy, make friendly visits, staff gift shop, provide wheelchair transport to activities and therapy, teach computer skills, assist with clerical, share talents such as painting, crafts, sewing, etc.

Located at the former Frick Estate, a spectacular 145-acre property in Roslyn Harbor in the heart of Long Island's fabled Gold Coast. The main museum building, named in honor of art collectors and philanthropists Arnold and Joan Saltzman, is a three-story Georgian mansion that exemplifies Gold Coast architecture of the late 19th century. In addition to the Arnold & Joan Saltzman Fine Art Building, Nassau County Museum of Art includes the Sculpture Park, Formal Gardens of historic importance, the Pinetum, ponds, woodlands, an architecturally-significant restored trellis, rare specimen trees, and marked walking trails. Serves more than 18,000 Long Island school children and their teachers who visit the museum each year for exhibition tours and art-related activities. The Education Department additionally sponsors extensive programming for children, adults and family groups and also offers professional development to Long Island's educators. Provides individual and small group instrumental (Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone & Drums) and voice lessons for children ages 7-13. The children are taught by talented high school, college, and community musicians. Through our Youth Mentorship Program, the youth instructors themselves learn leadership, responsibility, and teaching skills by professional musicians and music educators who serve as mentors and guides.

Member artists exhibit paintings, photography, sculpture and mixed media to the corporate community. Also includes annual High Arts Showcase, featuring work by juniors and seniors of school districts participating in Council's Journey program, as well as several curated shows. Opening receptions with musical performances at all shows provide opportunities to meet exhibiting artists.

Troy Boys & Girls Club has opportunities available for volunteers in almost every capacity. Working with children in their groups during after school programs (mentoring, tutoring), providing specialized programs for youth and teens (arts/crafts, science, technology, dramatic arts, dance, career exploration, job preparedness), administrative support (data entry, database management, prepare mailings, office assistant, etc.), capital improvement projects, and much more.

Located on the grounds of Nassau County's Welwyn Preserve, the Center is a nonprofit educational organization, dedicated to educating students and the community about the atrocities of the Holocaust and the importance of tolerance and respect for all people. Our center serves as a valuable resource for school programs, lectures, training, and other educational opportunities. Our tours provide a powerful and emotional experience, allowing visitors to learn about the devastating impact of the Holocaust and the lessons that can be learned from it. The exhibit features seven galleries that take you on a journey through history, from life before the Holocaust to its aftermath and the valuable lessons we can learn from it.
