Volunteers are vital to the Regional Food Bank. Every day, volunteers assist in our warehouse, on our farm, in our office, and in the community to ensure our operation continues to be most efficient.

Administers the Urgent Rx Program. Uninsured patients are identified for vouchers for generic medicine from a formulary. Vouchers provided through: Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department, Convenient Care Center, Cayugua Medical Center inpatient unit, Ithaca Free Clinic and REACH Clinic.Vouchers are for acute conditions and medications for no more than fourteen (14) days.If an individual DOES NOT receive an Urgent Rx voucher with his/her prescriptions at the time of discharge, he or she must contact the location which issued the prescriptions to verify that the medications are covered by Urgent Rx.Prescriptions can be filled ONLY in Tompkins County at specific pharmacies listed on the voucher.Medications for chronic conditions, e.g., diabetes, asthma, cancer, heart conditions, are not covered.NOTE TO CALL SPECIALISTS: If a caller needs help in obtaining medication for chronic conditions, refer him/her to the Community Health Advocates Program of the Human Services Coalition or to Needymeds.org or Rx Outreach.

Hands-on museum participation allows children (and adults) to create their own learning experience and encourages new discoveries about themselves and their world. Memberships available. Birthday parties, scout snoozes, and meetings can be arranged. Gift shop.

All volunteers complete a mandatory 20-hour training program. Patient care volunteers help patients and families with household chores, shopping, transportation, and companionship. This is done in the patient's home setting, whatever that may be. Patient care volunteers are also utilized in our 6-bed residence to help prepare and serve meals and to provide companionship.Specially trained and/or professional volunteers also support bereaved families, play music, give massages, and provide pet visits. Offers an alternative to a nursing home, hospital, or at-home care for terminally ill persons. Offers 10 beds in private rooms. Open to all regardless of religion, race or financial resources. Residents receive quality care in a home-like environment that includes: 24-hour care as an alternative to nursing home, hospital or at-home care Private bedrooms with cable TV and telephone Home-cooked meals Library and Chapel Open visiting hours for family and friends

Offers volunteer opportunities for people who are available to do painting, carpentry, cleaning or office work.

Volunteer opportunities include the weekend welcome and merchandise booth, assistance with events and in the office. Ambassador opportunities include tour guides for formal tours, and for informal (walk-up) tours and off-site speaking engagements, including help for the Farmer's Market which runs from June through October.

Provides free day care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers of single-parent students who meet certain criteria. (low income, single parents attending high school, college, business school, voc-tech or GED classes) Offers childcare during work hours in addition to their school hours. Presents workshops to these parents on child care, home management, nutrition, and educational options.

Accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare Part D and Medicaid. Financial assistance programs are available if needed.

Volunteers do variety of tasks from cleaning, cooking, and gardening to offering listening ear. Volunteers staff house during one or more shifts (9:00 am - Noon; Noon - 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm; 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm any day of week). Volunteers answer phones, help out with light cleaning such as load the dishwasher, show guest the house, and help guest get settled.

To enhance residents overall quality of life by offering individualized activities tailored to mutual areas of interest between volunteers and residents. Volunteers help wheelchair residents to Sunday services on campus. Volunteers visit with residents.

Provides a safe environment for young people to focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character/citizenship. Members rotate every 45 minutes through each area (homework room, gym/outdoors, social games, dining area, etc.). Services include dinner each evening, homework help, daily education and recreational activities.

Troy Boys & Girls Club has opportunities available for volunteers in almost every capacity. Working with children in their groups during after school programs (mentoring, tutoring), providing specialized programs for youth and teens (arts/crafts, science, technology, dramatic arts, dance, career exploration, job preparedness), administrative support (data entry, database management, prepare mailings, office assistant, etc.), capital improvement projects, and much more.
