places value on all real property in Tompkins County to equitably distribute the tax burden. administers real property tax exemptions allowed by New York State Real Property Tax Law or by local option, such as Basic STAR, Enhanced STAR, Senior Citizen with Limited Income, Disabled Persons with Limited Income, Agland, Agricultural Building, Business and Wholly Exempt. Most exemptions require a yearly renewal by March 1.
