Welcome Friends is a non-sectarian organization seeking to create a sense of community for neighbors affected by hunger and poverty by serving them with dignity and respect in safe, hospitable environments. Provides hot meals and sandwiches or groceries to go.

Infant Program provides services for children birth to approximately twelve-eighteen months with a focus on parent education. Support is given to families to help encourage their child's growth in gross and fine motor, cognition, speech and language, social development and self-help skills. The Toddler Program services children eighteen months to three years of age. Educational activities are designed to promote skills in all areas of development with a focus on special instruction, speech/language, physical and occupational therapy, ABA training, counseling, audiology, nutrition and nursing services. Family training and family support services are also offered. Both programs are in-home or center based. Transportation and in-house library,toys, books, audio visual materials are available.

The Urban League of Long Island, Inc. enlists the support of our auxiliary organizations towards the fulfillment of our civic engagement and leadership empowerment goals. The Guild and GenNext are comprised of community volunteers who serve as a base of support for the Urban League of Long Island. These individuals engage in community service and professional development activities with the overarching goal of promoting and fulfilling the mission of the Urban League Movement on Long Island.

Located at the former Frick Estate, a spectacular 145-acre property in Roslyn Harbor in the heart of Long Island's fabled Gold Coast. The main museum building, named in honor of art collectors and philanthropists Arnold and Joan Saltzman, is a three-story Georgian mansion that exemplifies Gold Coast architecture of the late 19th century. In addition to the Arnold & Joan Saltzman Fine Art Building, Nassau County Museum of Art includes the Sculpture Park, Formal Gardens of historic importance, the Pinetum, ponds, woodlands, an architecturally-significant restored trellis, rare specimen trees, and marked walking trails. Serves more than 18,000 Long Island school children and their teachers who visit the museum each year for exhibition tours and art-related activities. The Education Department additionally sponsors extensive programming for children, adults and family groups and also offers professional development to Long Island's educators. Enforces animal control measures needed to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Islip residents and, wherever possible, to promote animal welfare. The shelter houses stray and abandoned animals and makes every effort to have as many of those animals adopted as is possible.

Provides opportunities for individuals, groups and organizations who would like to volunteer. There are several programs that might be interesting for individuals or groups, or if students need to do community service for school credit, volunteer opportunities are available at all site locations.

The Auxiliary Police Section is comprised of over 30 community based units. Each unit is made up of dedicated volunteers who: Prevent & deter criminal activity by routine patrols in marked Auxiliary Police vehicles; Ensure the safety of our fellow residents during various community events; Manage traffic at parades and special events such as the LI Marathon, fireworks displays, holiday ceremonies as well as other community events & festivities and Provide assistance and support services during disasters and other emergencies. Our auxiliary police officers must attend and complete a 150 hour / 38 session basic training course which is taught by state certified instructors at the Nassau County Police Academy. Provides individual and small group instrumental (Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone & Drums) and voice lessons for children ages 7-13. The children are taught by talented high school, college, and community musicians. Through our Youth Mentorship Program, the youth instructors themselves learn leadership, responsibility, and teaching skills by professional musicians and music educators who serve as mentors and guides.

Offers a variety of recreational activities for ages 5 and up. Programs include afterschool tutoring, senior citizens, holiday crafts and summer programs. Helps young people (ages 5-19) become self-directed members of society through community 4-H clubs, school and community programs and programs at the Suffolk County Farm and Education Center and other Extension sites. Addresses critical youth issues through educational programs including substance abuse workforce preparation, life skills, character education and leadership training.
