CARES agency needs volunteers to assist with their website and with social networking. This can be done on their own home computer. Volunteers are also needed to assist on the day of the AIDSWalk with volunteer coordination, check-in and passing out water and T-shirts. The walk is scheduled annually for the last week of September.

USCRI has volunteer opportunities for interns and needs volunteers to act as refugee family mentors. Also needed are volunteers to help with house set-ups, workshops, transportation, and other services.

Provides tours of the Catskill Animal Sanctuary. During the tour you learn the history and mission of CAS, meet many of our 150+ rescued farm animals, hear farm animal rescue stories, and learn what working with these amazing animals has taught us. Information on agribusiness and its devastating consequences for animals, humans and the planet is shared honestly but with sensitivity to the ages of those on your tour.

Volunteers and interns needed to assist in a variety of program settings to work with youth, their families, community residents, vets, adults, HIV/AIDS population, people with developmental disabilities, and low-income individuals.

Offers a community based Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention program focused on healthy lifestyles. This program is offered for free in English and Spanish for all ages. ESNY utilizes a variety of hands-on educational strategies to bring about wellness behavioral changes within the community. All of our programs are interactive, focusing on creating healthy eating and physical activity habits. We also work with agencies to create healthy environments that focus on policy and systems change. Our educators provide programs throughout the community in food pantries, schools partner agencies, farmer's markets, laundromats, corner stores, libraries work sites, etc. Our 4 main areas of focus are "increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, increase physical activity, decrease consumption of sugary beverages, and learn how to budget, plan and save. We welcome agencies to contact us for our comprehensive programs that impact their staff and participants.

Provides a 100-bed skilled nursing facility with complete rehabilitative and subacute medical care for stroke, arthritis, multiple trauma, multiple fractures, traumatic brain injury, amputee management, neuromuscular disorders, neurological disorders, post surgical orthopedic and joint replacement. VIBS provides speakers on a variety of topics to colleges, community groups and also provides professional training on a variety of subjects. Topics include trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse. We seek to prevent incidences of these crimes through education and raising awareness.

Provides a museum at Republic Airport containing hangars built and designed during WWII, filled with operational warplanes from that historic era and staffed with volunteers in authentic period flight gear. Because of its airport location, it is the only historic aircraft collection in the region that can regularly return to air, demonstrating the power and stunning beauty of aircraft designed for war.

Volunteer mentor and/or tutor children and adolescents who live either in therapeutic foster care homes or in group home environments. Volunteer is individually matched with a child. Volunteers must pass New York State Child Abuse Central Registry clearance, a criminal records check by fingerprint and a DMV license check as well as provide professional and personal references. Flexible hours, request minimum of 12 hours per month. College-age, Adults.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, and Readers Advisory. Range of programs and services include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, Homework Help, and review courses.

Provides a residential assisted living for senior citizens as well as a program for those with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia. Offers occupational and physical therapy on site.

Provides parent education programs to community groups. Current programs include: Discipline Is Not A Dirty Word, Understanding Temperament, The Family Table, Building Strong Families, Raising Responsible Children and Teen/Parent Communication. Training and consultation for professionals working with families offered throughout the year.

Offers nature trails, a Nature Center, farm animals, Hoyt House Museum and playground area on a 133 acre nature preserve. Also offers educational programs which include Maple Sugaring, Pond Life, Animals on the Farm, Critter Camouflage and others.

Offers a program for someone who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or another degenerative illness. "Our Space" is a social model of adult day services established in 1987 for Nassau County residents over the age of 60 who are frail and memory impaired. Caregivers are provided with respite, education and support. All programs require an assessment to ensure proper placement. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
