To become a volunteer, one must go through HIICAP training

Animal adoptions at the Chenango SPCA include vaccinations and de-worming (age appropriate), Feline Leukemia test for cats, Flea Preventative Treatment, a free bag of Hills Science Diet Food (dogs/cats only), 30-day free pet health insurance (some conditions required), a free pet health exam from a participating veterinarian, micro-chipped and a pet ID tag. Zoo Education Volunteers (Docents) help to guide tours, spotlight animals, and educate the public about environmental issues around the world and at home. Gardening volunteers maintain the gardens on site. Special event volunteers assist with various tasks during the zoo's fundraising events throughout the year

Volunteers may provide transportation to essential services and appointments, run errands, assist with grocery and personal shopping, or pick up prescriptions, plan a regular phone visit or home visit to provide friendly and supportive listening, prepare/deliver a weekly meal or treat, perform general yard work or light housekeeping, and/or provide respite for caregiver.

Offers informal 4-H educational opportunities for all youth (5-19 yrs) in traditional, family, and special interest clubs. Also offers leadership training.
