Seeks to protect and preserve natural habitat which is home to a variety of plant and wildlife including waterfowl, osprey and white-tailed deer. Preserve also offers 50 miles of hiking, horseback riding (by annual permit), cross country skiing and nature trails, as well as fly fishing (with permit). The 32 mile Long Island Greenbelt Trail passes through the preserve. A museum and gift shop are also part of the preserve. The National September 11 Memorial Museum tells the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts. The lives of every victim of the 2001 and 1993 attacks are commemorated.The 911 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to those killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, PA and the Pentagon, as well as those killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February, 1993. Provides free family entertainment throughout the summer. Most events are held in conjunction with municipal recreation programs in Oswego County.
Preserves the history of the 14th Regiment New York State Militia and the American Civil War. Living history presentations are done at schools, historical societies, museums, parades and other events. Sets up a camp that resembles one from the Civil War, does drill and firing exhibitions and runs through a brief drill using wooden muskets. Restores grave sites of the Veterans of the 14th Regiment N.Y.S.M. All presentations are given in full civil war uniform.
