It works to promote a viable agricultural industry, foster agricultural environmental stewardship and safeguard the food supply.Major responsibilities include: agricultural protection and development animal industry food laboratory food safety and inspection kosher law enforcement milk control and dairy services plant industrySoil and Water Conservation Committee: protects New York's water resources from pollution through technical assistance, grant administration and programs and policies to guide and assist county Soil and Water Conservation Districts.State Fair: promotes and highlights New York State and its agriculture, commerce, arts and sciences through presentations at the New York State Fair.Statistics: provides important, usable and accurate statistical information and services.Weights & Measures Bureau: monitors measurement accuracy and uniformity in commerce.
