Program is designed to ease the transition of refugee children into the Buffalo Public School system and to empower parents to be effective partners in the education of their children. Provides mentoring, advocacy, counseling, tutoring, problem solving, school orientation, mediation, in class support assistance, parent/teacher conferences, homework assistance, crisis intervention, translation and interpretation.

FREE ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) and volunteers assist with language practice and civics lessons to prepare students for citizenship. Many workshops for non-citizens are held quarterly and a few are: Naturalization & Citizenship and Entrepreneurism Support.We offer a support group for Latino mothers in the Northeast Communities of Dutchess to learn about the New York State school system, nutrition and ways to integrate into our society.

Program combines case management and career counseling to ensure that refugee households struggling to achieve economic self-sufficiency during their first six months in the US do not succumb to homelessness, hunger, and/or long-term poverty. Connects refugees to basic needs service providers and employers in order to minimize income vulnerability and attain economic self-sufficiency at the end of the federally mandated resettlement period. Works with the Adult Education Division of Buffalo Public Schools to provide free ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to refugees ages 21 and older. Incorporates financial literacy coaching and training into our career services to provide clients with the tools they need for economic advancement and a bright future.
