Caregivers meet in groups for support.

MidHudson Regional Licensed Home Care of Westchester Medical Center offers monthly caregiver workshops in such areas as practical tips, stress management, coping skills and legal issues for caregivers. A monthly support group is also available.

The Caregiver Resource Center is a “one stop” service point addressing problems facing caregivers by offering information, training and support to caregivers of the elderly. The center works closely with other County and non-profit agencies to make the service network more accessible and responsive to caregivers.

Provides in-home aide service to relieve caregivers of homebound seniors, ages 60 and older. Provides caregiver education and other assistance to caregivers. Also provides out-of-home respite though Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Adult Day Care.

Offers assistance and support to caregivers who provide unpaid assistance to family members. Available services include information and referrals, individual counseling, caregiving magazine subscriptions, and caregiver training. Also offers support groups for any caregiver providing helpful information for handling challenges of care giving in a supportive environment.

Provides 5 steps for keeping older family members comfortable and safe, in their home or yours.

* Provides educational advocacy for students to develop an appropriate special education plan.
* Offers assistance with applications to individuals who are suspected of having a developmental disability with OPWDD eligibility process.
* Offers trainings to students, families of individuals with disabilities, educators, and/or service providers.
* Transition Services - assists students in creating plans for individualized transition services as they prepare for life after high school.

Offers kit containing items such as: bright warning stickers (hot, poison, turn-off when done), daily medication dispenser, resource directory, caregiver's guide to Alzheimer's disease, soothing musical tape to help reduce patient anxiety, patient information sheets, medication recorder pocket reference, etc. Free to caregivers. Also offers Veteran's Caregiver Support Kit.

Provides a free publication (available in various languages) featuring smart ways to make a home comfortable, safe and a great fit for older adults. 

Provides caregivers assistance with accessing resources, individual counseling, resource library, respite services, Alzheimer's support groups, community educational programs and guest speakers.

Training for professionals and others who work or have contact with older adults to recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse and mistreatment and to facilitate intervention.

Provides assistance to informal caregivers, spouses, adult children, other family members, friends and neighbors, in their efforts to care for an older person who needs help with everyday tasks. This can include certain aspect of personal care, such as, bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as, housekeeping, errands, grocery shopping, providing meals, transportation, home repairs, financial support, emotional support and companionship as well as short term respite care within the home. Maintains a resource library for information for caregivers as well as age-related diseases.

Helps individuals understand that the key to qualifying for some paid services is whether your loved one is ‘homebound’.

Provides information, assistance, respite, support and supplemental services to family caregivers, grandparents and other relative caregivers. Offers Expanded In-home Service for Elderly Program (EISEP). Offers homemaker/caregiver/respite services including case management. Cost-sharing depending on individual's financial status and program designation.

The Office for the Aging offers many services for the senior residents of Steuben County including, but not limited to, information and referral, nutrition through congregate meals, advocacy, support groups, transportation services, caregiver services, case management, and the Bone Builders and Senior Meal Programs. Bone Builders and the Senior Dinner Clubs are overseen by Pro Action of Steuben-Yates.

Provides non-medical services needed to enable older persons to remain at home, delaying care in long-term facility or nursing home.

Provides information, caregiver assessments, one-on-one consults and referral to family caregivers of older adults. Offers information about programs and services available at Office for Aging and throughout the community. Publishes information in the Senior News "Caregiver Corner"; sponsors caregiver support group/chat; and educational programs. Trainings held both daytime and evenings. Locations and times vary.
