A microchip contains a registration identification number associated with your pet. The chip, as small as a grain of rice, is implanted under your dog's or cat's skin. If your "chipped" pet gets loose and is brought to any animal shelter nationwide, it can be scanned for your dog's or cat's contact information. Included with the microchip is a lifetime membership in the Petlink International Directory.

DBCH offers information and public awareness of rabies. Also provides the preventive vaccines for domestic pets, and post exposure vaccines to people. If anyone suspects an animal is rabid, contact the Department of Health or the local police department immediately.
Conducts spay/neuter clinics, provides educational programs, and supports senior citizens with the maintenance of their pets. In addition, the agency provides spay/neuter services to tens of thousands of feral animals, while assisting the residents of Suffolk County by providing for the health and safety of their pets. Our peace officers are both active and retired law enforcement personnel who enforce the New York State Agriculture and Market Law with regard to the prevention of mistreatment and cruelty to animals. The Suffolk County SPCA directly supports the efforts of the various Federal, State and Municipal K-9 rescue services in the five state area. Call for detailed information on services offered.

Responsible for septic systems, inspections and permit issuance, drinking water testing, public health hazards and nuisances, clean indoor air enforcement, onsite wastewater treatment system regulation, rabies investigations and vaccinations, insect control, West Nile Virus surveillance. Rabies vaccinations: Conducts free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets in several locations across Cattaraugus County. All Cattaraugus County residents are eligible for these free vaccinations. Notices will be posted on the Cattaraugus County website, through radio, newspaper ads, fliers on community boards around the County. Provides a wide variety of services essential to the health and well-being of all Genesee County Residents. Service areas include public water supply protection, community sanitation and food protection, private water and sewage disposal systems, realty subdivision plan review, public health nuisances, residential lead investigations, chemical emergencies, rabies investigations, and enforcement of both the Adolescent Tobacco Use and Prevention Act (ATUPA) and the NYS Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA). The Environmental Health division also operates multiple anti-rabies immunization clinics annually to administer vaccines to domestic animals, including cats, dogs, and ferrets, in order to reduce the spread of the potentially life threatening disease.

NYS Public Health Law requires that all puppies and kittens get their first rabies shot at 3 months of age. They also need to get a booster shot at one year old, and again every three years.
* Provides a municipal animal resource center for at-risk animals that are homeless, injured, or pose imminent public safety concerns within the Rochester City limits.* Provides lost and found pet reunification and pet rehoming services. * Addresses city ordinances regarding companion animals with information sharing, supportive services, and enforcement.* Offers free pet services including pet food and supplies, vaccinations, identification tags, microchips, spay and neuter surgeries, wellness exams, and community veterinary care. All adopted animals receive a certificate for one free veterinary examination.* Provides temporary housing via foster homes for pets of households in crisis.
