Is the Special Supplemental Foods Program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC provides nutritious foods as well as nutrition counseling and education for its participants. WIC provides Nutrition education; Breastfeeding support and assistance and Referral to other services including Prenatal (PCAP) and postpartum care, Well baby and Child Care, Medicaid, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Head Start, Food Stamps, Substance abuse treatment, and Family planning. CFH assist families by providing free healthy food and services to low-income women and their children, including nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, health education, and referrals to other programs and services.
For women who are pregnant, postpartum or breast feeding or have children under age 5. The program provides monthly checks to purchase selected foods in WIC-approved food markets, nutrition/health education, and referrals for health care and other services.
Provides basic food for pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5. Eligible participants receive a food benefit card to purchase nutritious foods such as milk, eggs, cheese, whole grains, fruits and vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, and baby formula. Also offers nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and community referrals.
Offers help in emergencies with such basic needs as food, prescriptions, housing, and heat. When funding is available, provides FEMA assistance for one month of rent or mortgage payments as long as the tenant or owner can demonstrate the ability to make future payments on their own; funding currently unavailable. Utility assistance is not available through these funds. Also offers a parenting program.
