Oversee Civil Service Law, provides Nassau County a process to be hired into public employment based on merit and fitness. Program is responsible for announcement, recruitment, classification, qualification, examination, and placement. County office is liason between the State Commission and various County and municipal agencies.

Assistance and advocacy with obtaining benefits for a range of services such as funerals and burials, disability claims and compensation, nursing home care and VA pensions. Information on Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder and job finding assistance.

Provides an afterschool program for children 6-18 years which includes a gym program, hygiene classes, and arts and crafts. Also offered by appointment are SAT and Civil Service exam preparation and job placement. A summer camp for children 5-12 years is offered at a minimal cost.

Job Central is a multi-faceted program addressing the barriers homeless and other extremely low-income individuals face as they attempt to secure living wage employment, live independently, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. The program provides technology access, job readiness skills training, job search assistance, employment coaching professional development, and post-employment support.

A program which guides individuals through pre-job information, such as resume writing, interview skills, etc., including job training, and job searching as they transition back into the work force.

Offers an assembly area and prospects for companies needing day or temporary workers and provides assistance by keeping a current database of homeowners, contractors, business owners, etc, for skilled workers. Has a morning "job English class and alcohol-free cafe and recreation room for workers waiting to be hired.

Provides the following services: advocacy, information and referral, food pantry, limited emergency funds, bus tokens for transportation, employment programs, and companionship. Also offers bereavement counseling.

Provides training and support in resume writing, job readiness workshops, job search, and interview skills to homeless veterans and those returning from active duty.

Community Outreach Center provides assistance in finding employment. Career development counselors are on hand to help individuals create a professional resume, and assist a prospective employee develop interviewing skills that showcase his/her aptitudes, experience, and workplace readiness.

Provides Youth Development Programs, educational programs, recreational activities, individual and family counseling, groupwork, youth advocacy, information and referral and crisis intervention. Also receives in-house support services through the Huntington Youth Bureau which includes substance abuse counseling, emergency short-term housing for homeless youth and their families, GED preparation, vocational counseling, job placement, and a crisis hotline. OWS provides comprehensive employment services, including job skill training programs, unemployment information, cover letter and resume assistance workshops, job referrals, internships, support services, career counseling and more.

Offer services to veterans of military service which include employer information, education, training and credentialing, as well as links to federal resources

Provides job applications, referrals and placement for high school students looking for after school, summer or full year employment in various areas, such as healthcare, information technology, culinary, and more. Also offers basic and social skills assessment and one-on-one job coaching.

Serves the community youth by disseminating employment information to any appropriate agency or individual who may supply young people with employment opportunities. Offers preparation for employment program to help youth gather information and learn skills needed to begin making career choices.

Assists individuals and families that qualify for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Safety Net Assistance (SN), as well as individuals receiving Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP) benefits. SWEP will enable our participants by: Addressing and evaluating your employment goals; Identifying resources needed for your success in the workplace; Working together with you to develop a plan of action designed for foster your success and Referring you to one or more work activities to enhance your ability to find employment. Offers a cutting-edge endeavor which brings together both employers and job seekers, providing a comprehensive, one-stop approach to job search. Staffed with employment professionals from several private and public entities, the Employment Center functions as a full service human resources facility. The center supplies the job seeking customer with all the tools necessary for a self-directed or staff-assisted job search, and provides employers with facilities and workforce support. Equipped with state of the art computers, fax machines, phones, and copiers, the Employment Center also maintains job banks and specializes in job clubs, job fairs, employability and computer workshops and focus groups. Employment Center visitors are able to accomplish many tasks, whether it be to create and edit their resume, navigate the Internet for their job search. Youth Leadership is an innovative, leadership development program designed to develop the academic, social and life skills of area youth. Students will have opportunities for substantive interaction with his or her peers, community based service organizations, institutions of higher education, and professionals from local industry. It is open to incoming high school sophomore and junior students, and home school students, from Dutchess County.

Provides training in all aspects of food service (preparation, baking, service, catering, bussing, fast food, etc.) leading to competitive employment for people with disabilities from ages 16 and up. Placement services offered. No income restrictions and documentation required to prove disability. Parental consent required for ages under 18.

Assists individuals who are deaf-blind in learning daily living and communications skills. Assesses individual's mobility and vision needs providing both training and customized mobility tools. Provides vocational assessment, job readiness training and job placement. Refers individuals to appropriate government programs and services. Services are provided in individuals' homes, work sites and communities.

ETC provides temporary housing units for Social Services and permanent housing for homeless. Services include financial counseling, legal and family issues, community meals and employment assistance.

Trains and places traditionally unemployed and hard-to-employ individuals for jobs in growing sectors, including long-term case management and ancillary services.
