Job Central is a multi-faceted program addressing the barriers homeless and other extremely low-income individuals face as they attempt to secure living wage employment, live independently, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. The program provides technology access, job readiness skills training, job search assistance, employment coaching professional development, and post-employment support.

ACCESS-VR is a vocational education, job search and other services to eligible individuals with disabilities to enable them to achieve independence through education, training, employment and support.

Provides individuals and families with social advocacy and support around navigating the complicated world of applying for jobs, social services programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Under grants from Suffolk County Department of Labor and United Way, will provide paid employment and job training opportunities to youth ages 16 - 20. In partnership with the Urban League, will provide paid employment and on the job training opportunities for adults who are eligible to work under Title V of the Older Americans Act

Serves individuals 18+ years of age with a psychiatric disability. Offers vocational assessment, vocational counseling, employment skills training, competitive employment placement assistance and support services.

Provides religious services and religious activities. Provides weekly worship at nursing homes, and visitation at South Oaks Hospital. Is a partner with St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in the Amityville Ecumenical Ministry providing job referrals, soup kitchen, CEPU (Comprehensive Emergency Program for the Unemployed (631)598-2378), and counseling. Provides meeting space for Al-Anon, Explorer Scouts, and Girl Scouts. Sponsors the Grace Day School for preschoolers Monday-Friday.

Promotes business through member services, educational programs, cooperative programs and legislative advocacy that balances prosperity with the quality of life in the community. Maintains a community calendar of community events. Also posts job openings within the community, on the website.

Devoted to assisting residents of the county to find employment. It is the aim of the Job Development Center to assist all residents, with emphasis on minority group members, in achieving this goal. The center also refers applicants to job training, alerts the community to upcoming Civil Service examinations and county job opportunities. The Job Development Center cooperates with the Minority Affairs, Office of Women's Services, Office of Hispanic Affairs, and the Office of Veteran's Affairs in providing services to County residents. Offers comprehensive employment services, such as maintaining a list of job openings, career planning, resume guidance, job fairs, employment counseling, and unemployment insurance benefits information. Services to employers include: human resource assistance, labor market information, and layoff assistance.

ACCES-VR works with adults and adolescents with mental illness/emotional disabilities and learning disabilities referred through ACCES-VR (NY State's Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation), in the areas of work readiness, job placement and supported employment services.

Provides help to individuals who have been diagnosed with mental health conditions and have had difficulty obtaining or maintaining competitive employment. The program assists people in finding employment, of their choice, in the community. Staff provide on or off-site job coaching and support to ensure that once employed, a person can learn the job duties, feel comfortable in the work environment, and have supportive relationships with supervisors and co-workers. When the person and the employer feel the employment situation is stable, an employment specialist can provide ongoing support.

Maintains a list of jobs from local businesses and organizations, for teens who are interested in working part-time, seasonal, or year round. Some for jobs are mowing, snow removal, babysitting, clerical work, etc., as well as some fun positions with the Recreation Department.

Conducts research, provides education, and delivers supports to better serve autistic and neurodiverse individuals in the classroom, workplace, and beyond. In partnership with Anderson Center for Autism, CAARES is working within SUNY Empire to build an Autistic Supportive College, deliver community and professional outreach, and provide career support for autistic and neurodiverse college students. It seeks to provide workforce development for professionals and business in increasing inclusive practices, conduct innovative research with and in support of autistic and neurodiverse individuals, and continuing to work in partnership with autistic and neurodivergent individuals and organizations across the globe. Parents, teachers, employers, and service providers need access to up-to-date, accurate information about autism. Working with partners across New York State and around the world, the center will provide that information, as well as education and training to parents, professionals, employers, community organizations, and others who support autistic and neurodiverse individuals. A state agency providing employment/job training, unemployment benefits, worker protection referral and employer services. Multi media resources and workshops are available to assist in job preparation.

Keeps a listing of available jobs by local businesses and agencies, also helps individuals with resume writing, interview skills and refers them to other agencies for other specific employment needs.

Provides youth and adults with employment and training oriented programs such as job readiness skills, skill building, pre-employment skills, employment referrals, job placement, post-employment services, entrepreneurial development and career directed training.

Works to restore public assistance applicants and recipients to gainful employment through a variety of employment programs. Also approves vocational exemptions for school attendance, monitors clients in training programs and the attendance of alcohol and drug abusers in rehabilitation programs.

Provides assistance to high school and college students looking for part-time, year round, and Summer employment, also maintains a list of jobs in the local community for youth looking for employment.

Provides a program that serves at risk high school juniors and seniors with job training workshops, job placement, college preparation workshops, college tours, personal development, community service activities and tutoring, based on the specific needs of the the student.

The Nassau Day Training Program provides both vocational and community integration services and serves as a job placement center for special needs populations in Nassau County. Our program provides outreach and/or mentorship to those with severe persistent mental illness and co- occurring disorders that may also include co-morbid health issues. The overall mission is to assist those in our program to enter the workplace as quickly as possible. We work with our program members to achieve increased community integration and independent functioning to prepare them for work. During the course of the program they may experience different levels of integration and independent functioning: developing work readiness, volunteer placement or actual competitive employment. In addition we offer Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) sponsored services such as Diagnostic Vocational Evaluations, Supported Employment Services and Office Skills Training and Placement.

Offers internship opportunities for eligible students. Students must be enrolled in an internship class for credit. Internships are available for undergraduate and graduate students. Call for more information on the internship program.

Provides workshops about employment, immigration, education and parenting for non-English speaking immigrants. This service has implemented the New Americans Resource Center at the White Plains and New Rochelle public libraries to help provide opportunities for adult immigrants to learn skills so they can actively participate in their communities.

Assists legally blind persons find suitable employment.

Provides an array of services to employers, from organizing annual job fairs and informational expos to recruitment assistance. Other services include creating/listing job postings, pre-employment testing, referrals of qualified candidates, pre-screening for specific skills and qualifications, screening for available training subsidies and/or tax credits, and the possible training and upgrading of existing employees.
