Day Habilitation Program operates under the OMRDD's Home and Community Based Services (HCBS). The programs serve people with a wide range of intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Day habilitation services help individuals achieve satisfying and rewarding connections and relationships within their communities. Services and supports revolve around the assumption that each person is a member of the community. The day habilitation program uses consumer skill acquisition and staff support to help people build relationships, to participate in the community, and to experience work and volunteerism. Volunteer work assignments allow individuals to contribute to their communities as well as to enhance and strengthen skills necessary for supported employment. Social and recreational opportunities and clinical needs are also addressed. Part-time attendance is offered to individuals who are engaged in supported 28 small community based locations throughout Nassau County.

Offers a comprehensive day habilitation program for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities to engage in recreational and volunteer activities which offers exercise, recreation, library time, volunteer work, developing and enhancing socialization, safety skills, nutrition awareness and community integration. Also provides community habilitation where trained staff go to an individuals home to work on daily activity and other necessary skills to build as much independence as possible.

Programming is done either in the home or in the community or both, again based upon the need of the individual and the desires of the family. The individual and/or the family is involved in the hiring of staff members who then work directly with that person, whether child or adult, working on those goals that have been identified as valuable in the ISP. The amount of hours this programming entails is agreed upon during initial meetings with the MSC and the family as approved by OMRDD.

Provides support to individuals, 18 years of age and older with developmental disabilities transitioning from school, in developing skills for independent living and employment. Provides mentally and developmentally disabled adults with independent living skills instruction and money management strategies. Offers health and wellness groups, relaxation techniques, speech and physical therapy. Provides assistance in community integration. Conducts needs assessment, treatment and discharge planning and medical referrals.

Offers a structured day program for individuals with developmental disabilities that can be utilized on an hourly or daily basis. Training includes daily living skills, basic education, recreational and social activities, exercises to improve coordination and other forms of developmental support which help participants develop and maintain skills that are required for community involvement, self-advocacy, self-care and possible employment.

Community Habilitation services to support the child’s acquisition, maintenance, and enhancement of skills necessary to independently perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and/or Health-Related Tasks.

Works with the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (NYSOPWDD) and partner provider organizations to navigate services for people with Developmental Disabilities.

Offers a center-based specialty Day Habilitation Program designed for people with development disabilities who are 55 and older, and/or are medically frail who are over 21 and residents of Nassau County. Physical fitness, sensory stimulation, creative arts, reminiscent activities, community connection activities, and community participation, including inter-generational opportunities, are some of the areas the program emphasizes. Clinical support in nursing and psychology is on site daily.

The Friendship Circle exists to create meaningful relationships between children and teens with and without special needs by celebrating their individuality, increasing confidence, igniting dreams, and redefining worldviews for all parties. Offers virtual and after school programs.

Provides a day program that focuses on the development of a person's independence, individuality, and directs activities toward inclusion in the community. Participants volunteer at local hospitals and nursing homes, exercise at local gyms and are actively involved by participating in gardening projects, Meals on Wheels and Adopt-A-Highway. These activities help them learn about potential career paths. Another program is Dayhab Without Walls, which allows youth and active seniors the opportunity to become more involved in community projects through volunteer initiatives and recreational outings.

Offers a Medicaid Waiver Program for developmentally disabled adults. Promotes community integration, independence and choice.
