Dedicated to creating, publishing and distributing tactile illustrations for readers who are blind or visually impaired. Creative Adaptations for Learning (CAL) produces books, flash cards, and other educational materials which use raised lines and textured shapes to help visually impaired people recognize shapes and objects the product is particularly useful for developing reading readiness (braille or print), orientation and mobility and communication skills. Young children, their parents, siblings, teachers and Occupational Therapists, any of whom may be blind or visually impaired, use these materials...as well as children who have dyslexia, autism, cerebral palsy or learning delays. Provides the services of a Certified Low Vision Optometrist for individuals with decreasing vision. A low vision evaluation differs from the routine eye exam provided by an ophthalmologist in that it works with patients to maximize their remaining functional vision through the use of optical devices. This may include special lenses, magnifiers, telescopes, lighting, and/or glare reduction. When an individual is experiencing difficulty with tasks or things they enjoy doing, due to vision loss, a low vision evaluation may be beneficial.

The Ithaca Lions Club and Ithaca Free Clinic have a partnership operate an optometry and optician program housed at the Ithaca Free Clinic located at 521 W. Seneca St. in Ithaca. The Ithaca Lions Eye Clinic will offer free eye care services to Ithaca and the greater Ithaca community. The clinic will operate one day each month, providing free eye care services to uninsured and underinsured community members. For uninsured and underinsured community members interested in scheduling a free eye care appointment, call the Ithaca Free Clinic at 607-330-1254 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Eye exams require an appointment, and exams will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Being a resident of Tompkins County is not required to use the free eye care services offered by the Ithaca Lions Eye Clinic.

Screens for eligibility for new glasses or one hearing aid in coordination with a local Lions Club.
Offers guidance and counseling to assist consumers who are legally blind find or retain employment. Vocational counselors work with the consumer to develop an Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE). The IPE acts as a road map to guide the consumer toward their employment goals. Goals vary, and include preparing for and finding a job, continuing at a current workplace or maintaining a household independently.
