Provides no-cost energy efficiency solutions for income-eligible (HEAP eligible) New Yorkers (home owners, renters and landlords). Services include lighting and appliance (inefficient refrigerators and freezers) upgrades and home performance measures, including air sealing, insulation, new energy-efficient lighting, safety checks of smoke detectors and more. On-site energy education offers customers additional strategies for managing their energy costs.

Please remove from our program listing.Provides free energy advising to residents, small commercial, non-profit and multifamily building owners and managers to help them reduce their energy use, switch to renewable energy, save money, and improve the comfort of their homes and buildings.Extension educators working as Community Energy Advisors (CEAs) will work not only to educate income eligible residents on the benefits of more efficient and renewable energy technologies, but to also save homeowners money that can then be used for other needs. They can also provide assistance and support to guide residents and businesses through the process of applying for energy programs, selecting contractors, and financing upgrades. The ultimate goal of the program is work to provide a bridge between these communities and the various incentive programs for energy savings.

An energy audit is conducted to determine the most cost effective means of reducing energy consumption in the dwelling. Typical energy conservation measures employed may include installing insulation, repairing/replacing doors and windows, caulking, weatherstripping, interior air sealing, repair/replacement of heating systems and installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
