This 600-hour, full-time Esthetics program is located at the Western Suffolk BOCES Northport campus. Those who satisfactorily complete this Esthetics program are eligible to take the New York State exam that leads to a license in Esthetics. Your NYS Esthetics license will help you find job opportunities with flexible hours, financial stability and job satisfaction in Nassau County, Suffolk County, and New York City. Students enjoy practicing on classmates and clinic clients as they study anatomy and physiology, bacteriology, sterilization, structure and function of the skin, facial procedures, use of various machines, waxing, basic make-up techniques, and business practices. Successful completion of the Esthetics program at Western Suffolk BOCES prepares you to sit for the New York State Esthetics licensing exam and includes 30-hour Laser Hair Removal certification. Offers this 1200-hour program for you to prepare to take the National Certifying Examination as a Surgical Technologist. A Surgical Technologist works closely with the surgeon, anesthesiologist and registered nurse to set up and assist in all type of surgical procedures. You will learn how to perform many duties that help keep the operating room functioning safely before, during and after operations. Practice the skillful handling and passing of surgical instruments and supplies, sterilizing operating room equipment and maintaining inventory in BOCES’ simulated Operating Room. BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio for highly personalized instruction. Students are assigned to a clinical site at one of Long Island’s excellent health care facilities and spend 590 hours working under the guidance of an experienced health care professional. Training and certification is available on the backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front-end loader and skid-steer. Topics include safety, maintenance and the practical operation of the equipment. Upon registration, you will be given the contact information to schedule your class. The full 84-hour curriculum consists of twelve, 7-hour days. A basic one-day class is also available.
