Offers an online Advanced Graduate certificate program in Coaching that prepares students to become New York State certified athletics coaches. The curriculum consists of three graduate-level New York State Education Department (NYSED) approved coaching courses plus three additional advanced courses that examine a broad range of issues that impact the coach in today's educational climate. These include learning theories, social and psychological issues, principles of organization and administration, kinesthetic theories, injury care, and exercise and nutritional considerations. Legal services provided by law students for youth involved in the Suffolk County juvenile and criminal justice systems. Clinic students also provide educational advocacy to justice-involved young people in matters such as school suspension and expulsion hearings, special education proceedings and impartial hearings. They also represent those young people in delinquency and adolescent offender cases. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. Located on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, this location is home to the Southampton Arts MFA programs in Creative Writing and Literature and Film and their summer workshops; the waterfront research and teaching facilities of the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, including the new Marine Sciences Center; the undergraduate residential Semester by the Sea programs in marine sciences; and Health Technology and Management programs. Nassau Community College (NCC), in partnership with Condensed Curriculum International (CCI), is pleased to offer this Dental Assisting program. The course has 80 hours of instructor-led sessions in the classroom. Students may pursue the Dental Assistant National Board (DANB) Certified Dental Assistant exam, Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) exam, and the Infection Control Exam (ICE). Students need a high school diploma or equivalent, a current government-issued photo ID, and the application requires disclosure of a Social Security number. STEP is designed to motivate and prepare financially disadvantaged and underrepresented minority students for careers in science, technology and mathematics-related disciplines, along with licensed professions such as nursing and accountancy. Academic activities that encourage critical thinking, along with intensive instruction in mathematics, science and computer science, are teamed with support services such as counseling and tutoring. This provides a nurturing environment which builds self-esteem as it prepares minority and disadvantaged students for entry into STEM and licensed professions.
