Provides support for individuals with disabilities as they improve their ability to speak up for themselves and obtain the respect, access, and services they deserve in their daily lives and communities. SILO also assists with voter registration, facilitates action groups designed to make community change, and coordinates disability-related political action alerts. For the community at large, SILO provides technical assistance and resources to businesses and agencies to help them improve their accessibility for people with disabilities and their compliance with civil rights laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. When people come to SILO, they become active in the community as part of the solution.
