Responsible for the service and enforcement of orders of protection throughout Suffolk County. They also arrest individuals charged with violating orders of protection and those with family offense related warrants. The Unit provides victims with a safe refuge by removing batterers from the home, seizing weapons and executing arrest warrants against the perpetrators of domestic violence. The Unit works closely with various domestic violence agencies both on the private and county level to offer or assist victims of domestic violence. Call for more detailed information.

The Family and Child Advocacy Center is a multi-disciplinary team providing services to victims of child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and serious physical abuse. A child friendly environment is provided. Help offered includes victim support and advocacy. Medical and therapeutic services are available on location.

A state-mandated service provided by every county with the goal of keeping vulnerable adults safely residing in the community or in the least restrictive alternative. It involves intake, investigation, and assessment of referrals of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of qualifying vulnerable adults. APS workers develop services plans with eligible clients to remedy physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, or to address unmet, essential needs of adults.
Provides evidence-based curriculum to parents and/or guardians with home-based parent education and support by offering skills and tools to help reduce the risk of further maltreatment such as abuse or neglect. Assists parents and/or guardians with interactions with their children and choice-behaviors.

Services include a 12-week group with a clinician that facilitates which includes assessment, consultation, counseling, skill building and support. 8 weeks of the 12 include an office-based psycho-educational group and in-home intervention that focuses on specific parenting issues.
Offers one-on-one counseling to domestic violence victims on short-term basis at no cost.

The following workshops are offered: Identifying and Reporting Suspected Child Abuse; Prevention and Intervention of School Violence (SAVE); Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and Autism Workshop. These workshops are available to Stony Brook University and non-Stony Brook University students. If you are not a Stony Brook University student, please consult with your school's teacher certification advisor or the NYSED website for specific certification requirements prior to enrolling in a workshop. All workshops are offered numerous times throughout the year. These workshops are delivered in an online-only format. Registration fees are subject to change dependent upon university rates. **THIS AGENCY HAS DISCONTINUED SERVICES AS OF MARCH 14, 2025** The Community Education Department helps the professional community be more effective in working with clients of all ages who are victims of rape and sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and child abuse and neglect. The staff is available to perform onsite trainings for mental health practitioners, substance abuse counselors, youth workers, educators, health practitioners, and those whose work may intersect the victims of family violence and rape and sexual assault. Seminars on mandated reporting of child abuse include: how to work with domestic violence victims; general and advanced overviews of trauma; prevention of dating abuse and sexual assault for middle, high school and college students; and elder abuse. Works with community members and parents on issues such as preventing sexual abuse of children, preventing dating abuse, and to prevent and respond to domestic abuse and rape and sexual assault.
