Trained volunteers meet with individuals to discuss how to make adjustments to household spending on a reduced income, ideas for negotiating with electric and credit companies and also include one-on-one financial counseling for clients as needed as well as to discuss micro business loans and help with start up costs, capital or expansion. These trained volunteers will work with individuals to address crisis situations (foreclosure, garnishes or repossessions) as well as developing budgets that will ease the strain on finances.

Thrift store accepts donations of good condition household items, furniture, books, DVDs, CDs, collectibles, current educational materials, craft and hobby items, musical instruments, antiques, small and large appliances, and workplace apparel. Pick up available for donations of large household items and furniture. Employment services include resume and job search assistance, job skills training, and on-the-job work experience. Also offers free access to computers and internet for job searching activities. Educational services include high school equivalency preparation credit recovery. Also provides budgeting assistance, income/expense scheduling, and fax and copy services.

Assists individuals in growing and investing in their communities by providing lending capital, training, consulting, technical assistance, seminars, workshops, and low-cost business rental space to new and existing businesses that would otherwise lack access to these services. Assists area residents in developing asset based thinking by providing financial literacy training, basic budgeting, and home appliance loans to combat predatory lenders. Loan programs and Cottage Industry Assistance Program target low to moderate income existing and prospective individuals. Chautauqua Microenterprise Loan Fund and the Women and Minority Microenterprise Loan Fund Programs help small businesses by providing small business start up and expansion loans. The small business incubator offers small businesses an opportunity to grow and stabilize with subsidies around rent, business services, and technical assistance. Program site serves as a Warming Center during times of excessive cold and as a Cooling Center during times of excessive heat. Works with clients on budgeting to prevent future emergencies. Provides group for separated/divorced parents and significant others who want to reduce conflict and effectively parent their children. Provides domestic violence classes for men whose participation is court ordered. These classes provide information on the impact of men's abuse of power on family members; men's violence against women in society and how to end it; the historical, societal and cultural aspects of domestic abuse, oppression, racism, and sexism; and community efforts to stop domestic violence at the local and national level. Also provides friendly phone calls for older adults in Genesee County.
