HOPP representatives can connect New Yorkers to high-quality counseling or legal services all over New York State. The HOPP Program is designed to ensure that no family in New York State ever loses their home because they do not have access to a lawyer or qualified housing counselor. Services include: - Assistance with applying for a loan modification, or other types of loss mitigation - Direct representation in court proceedings, including settlement conferences - Homeownership counseling Operates HomeownerHelpNY (https://homeownerhelpny.org/), an online service that provides New Yorkers with the tools and support to avoid foreclosure and/or scams, and to help them find qualified mortgage assistance relief services from the HOPP network. HomeownerHelpNY is a collaboration between the New York State Attorney General Office and the Center for NYC Neighborhoods, a non-profit committed to protecting and preserving affordable homeownership.

Curriculum centers around visual and experiential learning and teaches principals of banking, budgeting, paying bills on time, proper credit use, and savings. City Roots is Jericho Road's first-time homebuyer education program. This program is for both refugees and American-born adults.

The Financial Capability program identifies the obstacles that prevent people from buying, helps them develop a plan and budget, and monitors the customer's progress towards overcoming the obstacles.
Families falling behind on mortgage payments can speak with a housing counselor. They will discuss methods to stop foreclosure, including loan modification, forbearance plans, or other plans to allow the family to remain in the home and catch up on missed payments.
