A free TRIO EOC program sponsored by SUNY Genesee Community College (GCC) that provides free support to aid community members in applying to, funding, and enrolling in further education. The purpose of the program is to help participants achieve their educational and career goals. Staff are knowledgeable and skilled in the fields of high school equivalencies, higher education applications and processes, state and federal financial aid, veteran and family-of-veteran education benefits, and scholarship opportunities available at the local, state, and national levels. Program offers individualized one-on-one appointments with highly trained Outreach Specialists who can assist with: - College and trade school applications - Financial aid applications and scholarship searches - High school equivalency options - Career counseling and vocational training options - Educational opportunities for veterans - Financial literacy and planning Although sponsored by SUNY GCC, the program is separate from SUNY GCC Admissions and does not recruit on behalf of the college. A thrift store which also provides comprehensive job skills training opportunities, employment support services, and educational opportunities for residents for Orleans and Genesee Counties. Thrift store accepts donations of good condition household items, furniture, books, DVDs, CDs, collectibles, current educational materials, craft and hobby items, musical instruments, antiques, small and large appliances, and workplace apparel. Pick up available for donations of large household items and furniture. Employment services include resume and job search assistance, job skills training, and on-the-job work experience. Also offers free access to computers and internet for job searching activities. Educational services include high school equivalency preparation credit recovery. Also provides budgeting assistance, income/expense scheduling, and fax and copy services.

Provides free civil legal services for individuals who are HIV positive or who have an HIV positive family member, including but not limited to: end of life planning, care and custody planning, unemployment, social security, public benefits, child support, custody, visitation, family offenses, divorce, discrimination, bankruptcy, housing problems, and name change.

Assists and advises debtors in representing themselves in court and filing all the necessary court paperwork related to debt. Program can help people who may have collections issues, wage garnishments, frozen bank accounts, debt court cases or judgments related to credit card debts, medical debts, student loans, car loans, utilities collections, lines of credit, charge accounts, and foreclosures.

Provides rental assistance paid directly to landlord for low income families. Households that are receiving rental assistance can participate in Family Self Sufficiency to improve earning power through household budgeting and credit counseling. Families can also earn savings accounts.

Responsible for paying for and assisting in the scheduling of burials for residents of Onondaga County who die without funds or family to arrange and pay for a burial.
