HOPP representatives can connect New Yorkers to high-quality counseling or legal services all over New York State. The HOPP Program is designed to ensure that no family in New York State ever loses their home because they do not have access to a lawyer or qualified housing counselor. Services include: - Assistance with applying for a loan modification, or other types of loss mitigation - Direct representation in court proceedings, including settlement conferences - Homeownership counseling Operates HomeownerHelpNY (https://homeownerhelpny.org/), an online service that provides New Yorkers with the tools and support to avoid foreclosure and/or scams, and to help them find qualified mortgage assistance relief services from the HOPP network. HomeownerHelpNY is a collaboration between the New York State Attorney General Office and the Center for NYC Neighborhoods, a non-profit committed to protecting and preserving affordable homeownership.

Focuses on creating asset development opportunities for both residents and entrepreneurs. Assists individuals in growing and investing in their communities by providing lending capital, training, consulting, technical assistance, seminars, workshops, and low-cost business rental space to new and existing businesses that would otherwise lack access to these services. Assists area residents in developing asset based thinking by providing financial literacy training, basic budgeting, and home appliance loans to combat predatory lenders. Loan programs and Cottage Industry Assistance Program target low to moderate income existing and prospective individuals. Chautauqua Microenterprise Loan Fund and the Women and Minority Microenterprise Loan Fund Programs help small businesses by providing small business start up and expansion loans. The small business incubator offers small businesses an opportunity to grow and stabilize with subsidies around rent, business services, and technical assistance. Program site serves as a Warming Center during times of excessive cold and as a Cooling Center during times of excessive heat. Always call ahead to make sure a Warming/Cooling Center is open before going there.

Assists and advises debtors in representing themselves in court and filing all the necessary court paperwork related to debt. Program can help people who may have collections issues, wage garnishments, frozen bank accounts, debt court cases or judgments related to credit card debts, medical debts, student loans, car loans, utilities collections, lines of credit, charge accounts, and foreclosures.

Financial Education at Jericho Road includes two programs: Financially Fit and City Roots. Financially Fit offers financial education to refugee and American-born adults, empowering them and their families with the knowledge needed to successfully navigate American financial systems, manage limited resources, and embrace a healthy financial lifestyle. Curriculum centers around visual and experiential learning and teaches principals of banking, budgeting, paying bills on time, proper credit use, and savings. City Roots is Jericho Road's first-time homebuyer education program. This program is for both refugees and American-born adults.

Offers support services to community members in financial crisis, including provision of food, pet food, clothing, household items, medical equipment exchange, limited prescription assistance, and medical transportation assistance. Other services include a monthly Mobile Food Pantry (open to anyone), budgeting assistance/financial education, and more. Community collaborative of service providers working together for veterans and military families. Offers a one stop, one location connection to various services including accredited benefits counseling, case management, education services, employment services, financial counseling, housing and emergency services, outreach and intake operations, peer mentoring, readjustment counseling, and women and family services; all these are provided by various service providers with expertise in their field. ##Veteran##

Provides on-site emergency food pantry for residents of specific streets in Niagara Falls (call for details) and information on meal planning and budgeting. Also distributes food donations (separate from pantry services) three days per week; first come, first served. Items and quantities vary each week according to donations received, and are given out until they're gone. Provides back rent, mortgage, and utility payment assistance to low income residents of Niagara Falls when funds are available; funds are currently unavailable. Fair Housing Advocacy Program assists individuals who feel they are victims of discrimination when purchasing or renting a home. Provides information, assessment, and referral to the appropriate federal, state, or local human rights agency or court. Housing location services and landlord/tenant advocacy also provided. A not for profit HUD Approved Housing Counseling agency that provides pre- and post-purchase counseling, foreclosure prevention, and rental counseling to landlords and tenants. Offers the following programs: - First Time Homebuyers Program - Foreclosure Prevention - Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Counseling / Reverse Mortgage Counseling - Landlord Training - Rental Registry - Tenant Education - DHS Inspections

Provides individual, youth, and family counseling, play therapy, co-parenting help for unmarried parents, budget counseling, emergency food assistance, information and referral, advocacy, services to the elderly and their families, and domestic violence classes if mandated by the court. During the holiday season, provides assistance with coats, food vouchers to purchase ingredients for holiday meals, and toys/gifts for families who are not receiving gifts from Toys for Tots or Salvation Army.

Life Skills Advocates manage monthly SSI and SSDI benefits for consumers. Program ensures that SSI/SSDI consumers who need assistance with their finances have their basic housing and medical needs managed each month to make certain that they are safe and secure in their housing. After all basic housing and medical needs are paid, any surplus funds are provided to the consumers in weekly Personal Needs Allowance (PNA).

People suffering under the burden of student loans learn about the various payment plans, deferment programs and special options available. We provide a complete financial analysis to determine which program best suits the borrower.

Trained volunteers meet with individuals to discuss how to make adjustments to household spending on a reduced income, ideas for negotiating with electric and credit companies and also include one-on-one financial counseling for clients as needed as well as to discuss micro business loans and help with start up costs, capital or expansion. These trained volunteers will work with individuals to address crisis situations (foreclosure, garnishes or repossessions) as well as developing budgets that will ease the strain on finances.

Legal problems handled involve basic needs such as housing, health care, food and income. Focus is on entitlement programs such as public assistance, Medicaid, food stamps and SSI as well as on housing problems involving evictions, foreclosure and poor housing conditions. Specialized units include Mental Health Law Project, SSI/Disability Advocacy Project, Domestic Violence Project, Pro-Bono Project, HIV Advocacy, disability discrimination, adult home advocacy, veterans. senior citizens, and homecare advocacy.

Offers a wide range of financial services to New York State residents. Provides foreclosure assistance including help obtaining loan modifications and information on available federal programs. Assists Holocaust victims and their heirs in the recovery of stolen art, monetary assets deposited in banks and insurance monies owed to beneficiaries. Offers consumers assistance in filing complaints about lender banks, other financial institutions and insurance companies. Provides disaster assistance related to insurance and financial services.
