Provides public housing for low-income families, elderly, and long-term disabled. Comprised of 13 family apartments, 7 three-bedroom units, and 6 four-bedroom units. Preference given to permanent residents of Genesee County. Waiting list may apply.

A statewide rental subsidy and transitional housing support program modeled after the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and Nursing Home Transition and Diversion (NHTD) waiver subsidy programs for a specialized population of high need Medicaid beneficiaries. Program is intended to help seniors and people with disabilities leave nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, or prevent nursing home placement by stabilizing their housing. Ensures that seniors and people with disabilities can afford accessible, safe, sanitary, and sustainable housing in the community. Participants in the program also have access to supportive services to ensure that community-based services are in place, and that participants know and understand their rights and responsibilities. Participants are free to choose any housing that meets the requirements of the program and are not limited to units located in subsidized housing projects, such as senior housing. Housing Specialists work with participants to locate housing in the community of their choice and will complete an inspection of the rental unit to ensure health and safety standards are met. Rental units must also be at or below fair market rent, as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), in order to qualify for the program. There will also be funding available for “community transition services” which includes security deposits, moving expenses, utility payments and household establishment purchases.

An option for low-income, disabled persons in the community to rent safe, quality housing with the option of single, two, and three bedrooms for families. Affordable Housing is based on income and does not provide services.

Affordable senior apartments offering maintenance-free living for people ages 55 and older who meet income eligibility. Apartment units include a refrigerator and stove, various safety features, and on-site laundry facilities. One and two-bedroom units available. Section 8 vouchers accepted. Additional apartment features include part time professional on-site management, availability of accessible or barrier-free apartment units, secure entrance, community room, and central air conditioning. Tenants may have one small pet. Seven units are reserved for people who are frail elderly/homeless and in need of support services. Apartments are located near a major bus route, as well as within a few blocks of restaurants and shopping.

The Newburgh Housing Authority is comprised of two different sites for low income families and seniors over 62. Mullins Courtyard Apartments is a family development located at 40 Walsh Road in Newburgh, NY, consisting of 70 townhouse-style units with from one to four bedrooms. Fogarty Apartments is a five-story mid-rise elevator building located at 162 Johnston Street in Newburgh, NY, consisting of 65 apartments.

1 bedroom apartments for seniors 62 years of age and older.

Provides rental assistance paid directly to landlord for low income families. Households that are receiving rental assistance can participate in Family Self Sufficiency to improve earning power through household budgeting and credit counseling. Families can also earn savings accounts.
