COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE | CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF ONEIDA/MADISON COUNTY

Provides assistance with basic needs for individuals or families who have emergency need. Services provided, as resources permit, include emergency rent payment assistance, clothing, utility assistance, emergency food vouchers, rent and security deposit on a limited basis (excluding water/sewer bills), and personal hygiene items (shampoo, toothpaste, sanitary items, diapers), which can be utilized once every 30 days while supplies last.

Offers food vouchers from the Utica office, and a food pantry for individuals and families in the Rome area. Assists with prescription drug assistance for up to a month supply, depending on fund availability to Madison County residents.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE | FRIENDS OF KAREN

Provides financial assistance for eligible families in various ways: Basic Living Expenses - Rent, mortgage payment and/or utilities, supermarket gift cards, when these bills have become unmanageable after a child's diagnosis and/or a parent must stop working to care for their sick child. Illness-related Expenses - medical co-pays, transportation for treatment, medical equipment, and childcare to keep siblings safe when parents must be with their hospitalized child. End of Life Expenses - will help with funeral arrangements and expenses, and provide bereavement support.

Provides emergency assistance with food through food vouchers. Provides counseling services including adoption counseling, advocacy, death/grief counseling, family counseling, and individual counseling, including for teens. Offers domestic violence sessions for men who are mandated by the criminal justice system or an agent of the courts for 26/52 sessions. Day and evening sessions available. Community educational presentations, training, technical assistance, and consultation provided. During the holiday season, provides assistance with coats, food vouchers to purchase ingredients for holiday meals, and toys/gifts for families who are not receiving gifts from Toys for Tots or Salvation Army.
