Volunteers provide home delivered meals for the homebound, handicapped, chronically ill or convalescent persons in the community who are unable to prepare meals in Northern Brookhaven. Food prepared at St. Charles and Mather Hospitals and Port Jefferson Healthcare Facilities.

A Subregional Library of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Lends books and magazines that have been professionally recorded onto cassettes to eligible individuals/organizations, along with special playback equipment, catalogs, and related library services. Maintains a Reading Equipment, Aids and Devices (READ) Center which displays adaptive reading equipment, by appointment only. Serves residents of Long Island of all ages who have a visual or physical disability. Offered by public libraries, in person at agency, or postage-free mail.

Provides coordination of services for legally blind veterans and their families. Duties include providing and/or arranging for the provision of appropriate treatment modalities to enhance a blinded veteran's functioning level. Other duties include identifying new cases of blindness, providing professional counseling, resolving problems, arranging annual healthcare reviews and conducting education programs relating to blindness.

Provides advocacy, education, information, technical assistance, public policy analysis, and networking experiences to agencies that offer community living opportunities and supports to people with disabilities and their families

Provides employment and job placement services, recreational classes, adapted computer training courses, fitness and exercise classes, social work and benefits counselors as well as volunteer readers for adults who are legally blind or severely visually impaired. Provides a statewide service that connects individuals with disabilities searching for an affordable means to acquire needed devices, with people who have devices they wish to sell or donate. TRAID-IN participants advertise, at no cost, through a database containing both wanted and available items.

Provides audio books, self-study kits and publications for visually impaired and blind individuals such as Basic Mobility, Personal Management, and Sensory Development.

Provides Adult Day Habilitation to developmentally disabled individuals ages 21 and over who reside in Suffolk/Eastern Nassau with their families, or in agency-operated group homes.

A consumer driven personal assistance program that allows people with disabilities to gain more control over their personal assistance services. CDPAP enables self directing consumers to advertise, recruit, interview, hire, supervise, train and dismiss their own personal assistant(s). Self directing persons assess their own needs, determine how and by whom these needs should be met, and monitor the quality of services received. Individuals independently make all decisions and manage services directly. If an individual is unable to do so, they may use a certain family member or friend to manage needed services. Provides community based habilitation to developmentally disabled individuals, ages 21 and over who reside in Suffolk/Eastern Nassau with their families. This program operates in and out of the individual's home, and can provide support in the morning, afternoon, evening or weekend.

Provides evaluation and training for disabled adults (ages 16+) in the areas of kitchen services, porter/maintenance services, assembly/packaging services, warehouse training and clerical training. Also offers vocational and placement counseling, remediation services, and alcohol and drug abuse counseling.

Provides a 32 bed care facility for seniors and adults in need of supervision. Services include personal care, supervised medication, meals, laundry and housekeeping services, transportation and social events.

Produces a free quarterly anthology on cassette tape for visually or physically impaired or dyslexic subscribers Nationwide.

Provides community residence programs for adults with a psychiatric disability over 18 yrs. of age with varying levels of supervision and assistance. Offers residential treatment for substance abuse. Licensed by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (NYSOASAS).

Provides an opportunity for developmentally disabled adults to meet in settings conducive to camaraderie and friendship. Social skills are fostered through group discussions and social events such as dining out, trips to movies, and visits to shopping centers and museums. Publishes recreation guide.

Serves children ages 5-21 with a diagnosis of autism, intellectual disability, or multiple disabilities. Teaches language and communication skills, self-help and activities of daily living, and behavior management. Other services include crisis intervention for families and parent education, counseling and support.

Educates SSI and SSDI beneficiaries and their families about federal, state, and local work incentives and benefits.

Distributes handicapped parking permits with a physicians note on his/her letterhead or prescription pad.

Offers a wide range of instruction in the arts through group classes, private instruction, workshops, performances and collaborations with various outside groups. Offers an arts-based pre-K program, an affiliated before and after care program and a variety of private and group vocal and instrument classes, including offerings for special needs students in the music therapy department. Provides assistance to individuals with disabilities to solve problems and overcome barriers to independence. This includes helping to identify and access supports and services and apply for benefit programs. Issues tend to resolve around housing, transportation and employment needs.

Community Supports and Day Services are designed to provide enriching opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to enhance their social skills and their independence. Programs are responsive to new and changing interests of people receiving supports and their families. The menu of available supports focus on social skills, daily living skills, wellness, technology, music, and the arts. Participants are fully included in their communities through recreation and experiential learning.

Provides community integration services to the elderly and individuals with disabilities.

Provides information and referral for family caregivers to find answers to general questions or information on specific disability and health care needs. Also provides referrals for direct services such as paying for health care, equipment or transportation.
