Provides behavioral and educational consultation and support to individuals, families, and professionals based upon them principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Our consultation services and trainings are designed to teach those who support individuals with autism and other special needs (school and agency personnel, family members/caregivers, community members) by providing effective education, training, and support within the frameworks of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our Autism Supportive Environment program provides training and assistance to businesses and community organizations in designing environments which are more supportive for individuals with autism and other special needs and their families/caregivers.

Serves children ages 5-21 with a diagnosis of autism, intellectual disability, or multiple disabilities. Teaches language and communication skills, self-help and activities of daily living, and behavior management. Other services include crisis intervention for families and parent education, counseling and support.

Produces a free quarterly anthology on cassette tape for visually or physically impaired or dyslexic subscribers Nationwide.

Provides residential living in supportive apartments for intellectually disabled adults.

Provides a statewide service that connects individuals with disabilities searching for an affordable means to acquire needed devices, with people who have devices they wish to sell or donate. TRAID-IN participants advertise, at no cost, through a database containing both wanted and available items.

Provides free curb-to-curb transportation within the township for residents, whose disability restricts their mobility and prevents them from using traditional forms of transportation. The handi-van is equipped with a motorized wheelchair lift and accommodates eight persons, one of them in a wheelchair. Call for application form and to make a reservation.

Performs various functions to assure that children up to the age of 21 with certain disabilities and/or chronic health conditions receive quality care while limiting the financial impact on families. Service coordinators provide case management to empower families to meet challenges of caring for a child with special health care needs and assist families in accessing educational services, as well as community resources. Service available to seniors 60+, including youth, who are unable to drive and have no access to other means of transportation for shopping, medical, Social Security, Social Services appointments, Town programs and social activities. Handicapped persons under age of 60 are also eligible. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Partially funded through Suffolk County Office for the Aging.

Provides a formal communication link between Town Government and citizens with disabilities to establish an agenda of issues and problems confronting the disabled and develop solutions. Call for more information.

Protects the rights of employees and employers by ensuring the proper delivery of benefits to those who are injured or ill, and by promoting compliance with the law. Call for more information.

Offers a wide range of instruction in the arts through group classes, private instruction, workshops, performances and collaborations with various outside groups. Offers an arts-based pre-K program, an affiliated before and after care program and a variety of private and group vocal and instrument classes, including offerings for special needs students in the music therapy department. Offers various recreational and socialization services, outreach programs as well as peer support and role model programs.

Provides assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in gaining access to the necessary support and aid needed to live productive lives. Uses person-centered planning focusing on the needs and desires of the individual receiving services while striving for the highest quality of life. Develops an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) which outlines what goals the individual hopes to accomplish, the strategies to achieve these goals, and what support they will receive along the way. Plans are evaluated and updated as the individual progresses and to ensure all support and services are meeting the individual's needs. Also assists individuals with services such as future planning, residential planning, recreation, residential habilitation, day habilitation, reimbursement, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.

Helps individuals transition out of a nursing home setting and return to their home and helps prevent placement into a nursing home.

Provides information and referral, independent living skills instruction, peer support services, advocacy, and community integration services to individuals with disabilities in order to empower them to live within the community and maintain independence.

Provides a variety of therapeutic programs to address the social, educational and recreational needs of handicapped residents. Call office for more details.

Provides a toy lending and resource center for families of children (birth-15 years of age) with disabilities. Provides an extensive library of toys (conventional and adapted), therapeutic equipment and books for parents and children to borrow for one month.

Provides an opportunity for developmentally disabled adults to meet in settings conducive to camaraderie and friendship. Social skills are fostered through group discussions and social events such as dining out, trips to movies, and visits to shopping centers and museums. Publishes recreation guide.

Provides transportation for doctor's appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday until 12pm with physicians note stating disability. Transportation on Friday for food shopping.
