BEHAVIORAL AND EDUCATIONAL CONSULTATION SERVICES ABA SUPPORT - EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT - HOME - COMMUNITY | ANDERSON CENTER FOR AUTISM

Provides behavioral and educational consultation and support to individuals, families, and professionals based upon them principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Our consultation services and trainings are designed to teach those who support individuals with autism and other special needs (school and agency personnel, family members/caregivers, community members) by providing effective education, training, and support within the frameworks of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our Autism Supportive Environment program provides training and assistance to businesses and community organizations in designing environments which are more supportive for individuals with autism and other special needs and their families/caregivers.

Provides a statewide service that connects individuals with disabilities searching for an affordable means to acquire needed devices, with people who have devices they wish to sell or donate. TRAID-IN participants advertise, at no cost, through a database containing both wanted and available items.

TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM | SMITHTOWN SENIOR CENTER

Provides free curb-to-curb transportation within the township for residents, whose disability restricts their mobility and prevents them from using traditional forms of transportation. The handi-van is equipped with a motorized wheelchair lift and accommodates eight persons, one of them in a wheelchair. Call for application form and to make a reservation.

Performs various functions to assure that children up to the age of 21 with certain disabilities and/or chronic health conditions receive quality care while limiting the financial impact on families. Service coordinators provide case management to empower families to meet challenges of caring for a child with special health care needs and assist families in accessing educational services, as well as community resources. SENIOR TRANSPORTATION | SENIOR TRANSPORTATION

Service available to seniors 60+, including youth, who are unable to drive and have no access to other means of transportation for shopping, medical, Social Security, Social Services appointments, Town programs and social activities. Handicapped persons under age of 60 are also eligible. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Partially funded through Suffolk County Office for the Aging.

Provides assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities in gaining access to the necessary support and aid needed to live productive lives. Uses person-centered planning focusing on the needs and desires of the individual receiving services while striving for the highest quality of life. Develops an Individualized Service Plan (ISP) which outlines what goals the individual hopes to accomplish, the strategies to achieve these goals, and what support they will receive along the way. Plans are evaluated and updated as the individual progresses and to ensure all support and services are meeting the individual's needs. Also assists individuals with services such as future planning, residential planning, recreation, residential habilitation, day habilitation, reimbursement, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
