Raises consciousness and awareness of senior grandparents who have had to take on the role and responsibility of raising their grandchildren due to substance abusing parents, child neglect, abuse, abandonment, teenage pregnancy, death, joblessness, divorce, incarceration and illness. Focuses on parent education to update child rearing skills, education on child development issues, understanding and appropriately disciplining children with emotional and behavioral difficulties, and social activities. Provides home visits and advocacy for grandparents with physical limitations.
Offers a meeting the second Wednesday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:00pm. The meeting runs from 7:00pm-9:00pm.
