Community-Based mentoring includes our traditional, one-to-one mentoring programs where we match children between the ages of 7and 16(our Littles) with a caring adult mentor, aged 21 or older(our Bigs). BBBSLI provides every match with a professional program team member to monitor the relationship and offer guidance during its entirety.

Council staff provide interactive in-person professional development at Council as well as at your location (through fee for service) as requested by programs and community agencies. Matches volunteers in one-to -one relationships with Nassau County adults and youth recovering from mental illness. Recruits, interviews, screens, trains and supports volunteers who agree to a one year commitment to visit their Compeer friend for a minimum of fours hours a month.
